pretty much. but outside the urban areas, the language is there to stay for a long time still. its just sad that educated class disown it, who could do much more to preserve it.

I think commercialism also played a part. People like Ahmed Nadeem Qasmi, who is termed as Encyclopedia of rural Punjab (due to portraying life of Punjab in his stories), never written a story of rural Punjab in Punjabi.. Just because urdu books got bigger readership.
