Re: Why Pakistani people have not taken to the streets?
Is it baseless. Really? Or is this another way of justifying the dictator's imposition of emergency.
Of course its baseless :)
In plain english I said oppose both, can you? I can.
oppose the dictator and oppose the tools that justified his taking over the power. and ifti was one of those tools.
come on, say it...or are you not going to condemn ifti and others for signing the first PCO :) is that where letter of the law and sanctity of judiciary stops.
Re: Why Pakistani people have not taken to the streets?
well that also means that people did not come out against BB twice and NS twice also because they didn't see any BETTER alternative. Come up with something more solid to support the dictator who has had to impose emergency and resort to brutal actions to save his kursi. If he is that popular ask him to lift the emergency and face the public. Can he? of course he can't.
Here is another challenge. Let both the CJ Ifti and Mush walk down the street unprotected and see who will be fetted by people and who will be lynched. That is the fear of the power crazy dictator and that is why he declared emergency. Truth is bitter. :)
Of course they did not see any better alternative then (in NS and BB era) so they never came out. They came out in numbers when NS was once sacked .......
Sure truth is bitter and truth is that this is not a struggle b/w Angel and Devil ..... this is a power struggle b/w 2 power hungry people (Mush and Ifti) who violated constitution, Mush had more power so he sent Ifti home ....... My personal opinion is that corrupt Judge is bigger evil than corrupt ruler, so I favor Mush :)
Re: Why Pakistani people have not taken to the streets?
Indeed, and also people are not willing to come out on the streets for failed leaders like BB, Nawaz or the MMA, whom they have plenty of experience of before in the 90’s.

Does this mean Pakistanis will have to put up with the dictator and the Unprecedented Economic Growth for some more years?

Out of 160 million people barely a few thousand at the very most have turned out on the streets in protest against the Emergency. Most of them have been lawyers, and opposition politicians - not the ordinary people.
Re: Why Pakistani people have not taken to the streets?
I don't think ordinary people are satisfied by any of the players on the scene. All are unworthy and not worthy of trust. Fresh faces might just be the driving force of the new Democracy. The people that have turned out, are coming out for the Media, that's about it.
It's sad cuz.....there literally are no worthy candidates on the scene other than Imran, and even he's not qualified (by the number strength he carries). Unless ofcourse he's released and people support him heavily, which has so far been against the norm of Pakistani public.

When Musharraf is ousted not a single person will come out in streets, bet on that.
Re: Why Pakistani people have not taken to the streets?
I do not think so. Becuase his demise from the throne of Islamabad will be his demise from this world as well. And Pakistani people have no history of celeberating one's death.
Re: Why Pakistani people have not taken to the streets?
^ people continue to ignore that there were no protests against the corrupt rules of Benazir and Nawaz of 90s, yes “people are not on streets so everything is fine” mantra continues, keep your head in sand or where sun does not shine :k:
Re: Why Pakistani people have not taken to the streets?
I thought BB was the saviour? Isn't She?
Not anymore. People have seen through her fake promises and theatrics, and remember well her corruption and mismangement during her two stints in power. That is why she got a lousy reception when she visited her home towan of Larkana, and practically zero turnout for her when she went to Punjab.
