**Life in city normal after emergency **

Despite emergency imposed in the country, life in Karachi after a day had passed was normal. Activities at shopping centres and hotels, was the same like every other day. During a survey conducted by The News most of the common citizens expressed their complete ignorance of emergency and said all such actions did not make any difference. Aslam Siddiqi said he was a salaried class person and expressed his complete no confidence on all political parties in his vociferous tone they were all making us fools. What I need he said was to get my salary and the first measure this emergency government should take was to curb the price hike of essential goods. This was the most important issue.
Another lady Shaista Khan while shopping at a bazaar in Gulshan-e-Iqbal said, she did not care about emergency, the politicians of this country were not sincere to the country and they all should announce retirement and give a chance to the youngsters. They would for sure not be corrupt, she added. She also said that due to price hike my monthly budget was shattered every month. I do not see anything new due to emergency. A shopkeeper Naimatullah said I am least bothered about emergency. What was needed at the moment was the political leaders should get united to raise their voice against emergency. He lamented that now all calls would be turned on deaf ears.
An auto rickshaw driver Rahmat Rana reading a local newspaper when asked to give his comments over emergency he said Yar apana kia haay, let anything happen, anything printed in the newspapers appear to be a bundle of lies. I have been living in Karachi for the last 20 years but have never seen any such situation which would deliver fruits to the poor. This is the first day of emergency one Khalid Khilji doing shopping with his family said we did not care about emergency. Just please ask these new rulers of the country to rectify the police of Karachi then everything would be fine. They were the cruel people doing a lot of humiliation daily to the poor people. He said if this emergency corrected them let this emergency be forever. During a survey made at hotels like Lal Qila, Karachi Haleem and other Nihari hotels, the managers at these hotels said the sale on Saturday was little higher than normal days and their customers never showed any sign that emergency was imposed in the country.
