Why Pakistani media and other forums have no self respect

Today Jang news paper puts a headline "America Pakistan ki soorat-e-haal per nazar rakhay hooway hai" [trans: America keeping a watchful eye on Pakistan]

America as a super power keeps an eye on every point of interest in the whole universe. Why the heck Pakistani paper has to put a $tupid headline like this?

The same is true for every type of media, print, electronic, or discussion boards. Pakistani analysts seldom praise Pakistan at its own. We have to be a nation pushed around (by America) or pulled around (by China). Our journalists have no self respect, and no shame.

Heck no Indian newsman or newswoman would ever put India down compared to anyone, and yet they serve America the best. Our journalist however have to find tiny bit of ammo against America or against Pakistan, and they run with pattakhas.

Sad utterly sad!

Re: Why Pakistani media and other forums have no self respect

^ did you not notice that is a statement from American foreign office and not something cooked up in Jang office?

Re: Why Pakistani media and other forums have no self respect

The media is right. Look what happened.

Musharraf sent out a trial balloon of declaring emergency. US takes note and Condi bibi calls him at 2 AM.

Today morning, Musharraf says “no emergency” :hehe:

Re: Why Pakistani media and other forums have no self respect

GEO NEWS and the Jang Group are a lot like Fox News. Sensational news stories quoting invisible sources, without any facts. This time round Geo news has a lot of egg on it’s face. :hehe:

Re: Why Pakistani media and other forums have no self respect

^ why egg on GEO’s face exactly?

The govt had to backtrack because it’s power base (America) wouldnt put up with the move.

Re: Why Pakistani media and other forums have no self respect

LOL!! No matter what Mush does its because of Ameerica.... Damned if you do... Damned if you don't...

Re: Why Pakistani media and other forums have no self respect

Lol.

Yesterday, Geo News was actually saying that because America was saying it “understood why Musharraf did not attend the Afghan Jirga” that this was a sign that it was backing his emergency rule! Now they are saying the opposite in order to cover up their own foolish reporting. I love it. :hehe:

Re: Why Pakistani media and other forums have no self respect

Why just blame Pakistani media when this news was reported by news channels all across the world and this was started by Tariq Azem govts own junior dis-info. minister?

Re: Why Pakistani media and other forums have no self respect

Pakistani Media is still in its early stages

The only way it will improve if people start demanding better news coverage

And we establish proper journalism schools and proper journalism standards

other than that the entire pakistani media will basically be a mouth piece of street conspiracy theories

Re: Why Pakistani media and other forums have no self respect

thats because they reported what was being reported on the pakistani media

Re: Why Pakistani media and other forums have no self respect

This was all started by Geo News at about 21:00hrs Pakistani time last night, and all the others just picked up on the rumours spread by them. I was watching Geo News throughout the night, and after about 4.00am Pakistani time it suddenly stopped reporting this as headline news!, and tried to bury it under news stories about the Afghan Jirga, bad weather in Karachi and started showing their silly dramas instead. They knew then that they had got it wrong big time, and are trying to backtrack by envincing more conspiracy theories while doing that. It’s such fun to watch the Geo crew crawling. :rotfl:

Re: Why Pakistani media and other forums have no self respect

^^ if this keeps on happening, no international media is going to take pakistani news seriously to actually report news from it

Re: Why Pakistani media and other forums have no self respect

I am not a fan of Geo either but where there’s smoke, there’s a fire. The statement was attributed to Ch. Shujaat who only bothered to refute it the next day. Mushahid Hussain also denied any chance of an emergency and said that those advising the President for emergency are the same “na-laiq” people who advised him on the Chief Justice matter. :chai:

Daal mein kuch kaala.

Re: Why Pakistani media and other forums have no self respect

Sections of the Pakistani media are hugely irresponsible, and have caused great harm to Pakistan's international image before as well. I think it was last year that the "Daily Times" reported that a historic Hindu temple in Lahore had been demolished by the local authorities, and this news was picked up by the Indian press and international media. The Indian's started protesting such that Pakistani government ministers actually had to visit the temple to prove that it had not been demolished. But the damage was done to Pakistan's image by the irresponsible (and criminal) reporting of the Daily Times was done. They never apologised as well, the shameless liars!

Re: Why Pakistani media and other forums have no self respect

^ Don't forget the great 'weatherman' Dr. Shahid Masood who despite govt. and international warning told the nation that these are lies and no bad weather is on its way. :D

Re: Why Pakistani media and other forums have no self respect

Yeh that was truly criminal of “Dr” Shahid Masood to say, and he probably put a lot of people’s lives in danger for such a stupid, biased and hateful statement. Bloody idiot!

Then again Geo and Jang are full of the biggest BS merchants around. Look at Ansar Abbasi, the most low class of them all, whose reports included such gems like “Chief Jutsice consulting the angels”. :hehe:

Re: Why Pakistani media and other forums have no self respect

"The press is so powerful in its image-making role, it can make a criminal look like he's the victim and make the victim look like he's the criminal. This is the press, an irresponsible press." . . . . "If you aren't careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed and loving the people who are doing the oppressing." Re: Why Pakistani media and other forums have no self respect

emm..i found every country's media is biased and stupid and at the same time quiet rational also depending upon the channel or the person reporting.....

Re: Why Pakistani media and other forums have no self respect

Each man must for himself alone decide what is right and what is wrong, which course is patriotic and which isn’t. You cannot shirk this and be a man. To decide against your conviction is to be an unqualified and excusable traitor, both to yourself and to your country, let men label you as they may: Mark Twain

Re: Why Pakistani media and other forums have no self respect

A very apt quote by the former British Prime Minister Stanley Baldwin, now used by many to describe gutter journalists the world over. It’s quite appropriate in respect to some journalists in Pakistan as well.
