Maybe because Russia has had strong ties with India . Also history plays a very big part in this. Soviets invaded Afghanistan if people remember and Pakistan was instrumental against them though not officially. Also i think it is quite ignorant to say Chechnya is an internal matter. The plight of the Chechen people should not be forgotten. Chechnya aside i think we can improve diplomatic relationships.
