Because bollywood awards are a dime a dozen.
Amitabh Bachchan must have received 700 lifetime achievement awards by now (for example). Everyone who attends an award show gets one (somewhat exaggeration). Theres an award for every category possible.
I know Filmfare is supposedly the oldest one, but its still not nearly as coveted as national film awards. Obviously to win one of thos, you actually have to (in most cases) be a good artist, and (generally) be part of at least decent movies.
Don't want to sound negative, but thats the only plausible explanation. Not an expert on bollywood though, so might be wrong.

Don't care about this junk award. Fawad's role and acting were a joke.

Fawad has won best debut male award, though filmfare are the oldest awards of india but best debut male/female award doesn't matter much.. filmfare lost their charm with the passage of time..

After seeing Ali Zafar and Rahat Fateh get slighted often - its nice to see that Fawad Khan made such and impact.

I'm pleased for Fawad as he has come a long way, but he got a best 'male debut' Filmfare award for acting in a Rom-com - I hope he is more ambitious than this.

Yes, Fawad Khan misbehaved with senior artist like Badar Khalil but in India he sucks up to every tom dick and harry actor. Tries too hard to act like some 'down to earth' guy but comes across as cringeworthy. I find both him and ali zafar cheapsters buttering up for favors.
