I am not big fan of pakistani scholars but I would like to point it out one thing, that for an urdu reader learning arabic is piece of cake. (Speaking from experience-)
I would think a big majority of pakistani scholar would have complete arabic understanding.(what they do with it is different story)

Arabic has some extra ordinary qualities even a beginner like me can appreciate.
On my book there is one ayat with urdu translation, total of 7 arabic words… I translated carefully it in english.
Here is what I found.
arabic 7 words.
urdu 18 words.
englist 21 words.

Reason I did it was, I had heard from non muslim scholar of quran, that when you translate quran you put so many words to cover the meaning.
From another new convert, he said “every line was packed with meanings”

So I think arabic was picked for quran for a reason.

Yes it was picked for a reason. Arabic was picked at a time when it was at the peak of excellence. Allah always does what is best and He is the best of Planners. Also not sure if you were making this point but Nouman Ali Khan is an American Pakistani teacher and da’ee. So he speaks Urdu and English both.
