why love?

Why get attached? death will do us all part. Do you guys consider that whenever you get close to someone you risk hurting them and hurting yourself? Are you afraid of falling in love or getting very attached to relatives/family members because one day they will leave you and then it will hurt like crazy? Isnt it better to detach yourself from them so in case you die they wont cry over you forever or if they leave it wont hurt as much?

^^Do you think the above is enough to justify a person wanting to detach themselves completely from their family and never get married/fall in love? is it enough to justify a less extreme situation, where a person might still be willing to fall in love but not surrender their emotions completely?

Re: why love?

Hmmm... I can understand their reasoning and maybe in theory it works.. but in practicality, it makes for a miserable, painful , lonely life..

Re: why love?

^I agree.... one of my friends once said"if you are afraid of getting hurt, you are not living then" and i think its true. getting hurt is part of life... but here's how it works, or it should work...
you get hurt...
you learn from your mistakes....
you get up, brush off bad memories from your clothes....
and move on.......

once you've done it you'll be a strong, confident person again :) whoever this person is, all they need is time...they'll be ok...

Re: why love?

it was shakespeare who said "'tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all." This speaks volumes....

yes, its so tragic to lose a loved one. but we get but one life, at least one life that we are aware of, yeah? Live it to the fullest, love as much as you can. To ignore love just to avoid the hurt, well, THAT hurt will hurt less...but its such a LESSER life if you know what I mean....

Re: why love?

rimsh- i agree. but the kind of "hurt" i meant was specifically losing a loved one due to death.

Re: why love?

^ shweets its really hard to stay away from life, you can't do it no matter how hard you try.... it pulls you back in... life doesn't stop for anybody or anything.... give the person time....

Re: why love?

Love is over-rated.

Re: why love?

^ to some extent i agree with you kaleem, i blame the media..

Re: why love?

^ Yes, these media folks want to control our thought process by polluting our minds with love shlove. Love does not do dishes, neither does it cook, and most importantly for women...it certainly does not buy diamond rings...only fools do. :)

Re: why love?

" The things we touch have no permanence. My master would say: there is nothing we can hold onto in this world. Only by letting go can we truly possess what is real. "

ok so this may not fully say what i wanted to say.. but.. death is absolute....it WILL occur.. and living your life without the love-portion, it will hurt MORE dying in your bed, with no1 crying around u ...

Re: why love?

its better to be loved and die satisfactorily that someone in life loved u and cared about u instead dying alone on ur bed with no one to hold your hand during ur last breath!

Re: why love?

hmmmm the human fears loneliness.

Re: why love?

^ Exactly!

no matter how much a person has a capacity to survive alone, but at one point he/she do really get sick and tired of living alone!

Re: why love?

Its natural process, you have no control on it, after death of love nature will help you ...

Re: why love?

^^ i dont get it? "after death of love nature will help u"?

Re: why love?

i think one doesnt die with the dead....u have to live and you DO need ppl around you; its not normal to live all alone

Re: why love?

Kaleem-obviously you have not been in love. When you've been there, done that -you'll be wiser, more humble.

History is full of instances where people have given their lives, kingdom, riches everthing in the name of love.
