Jesus allowed other people to openly proclaim His Deity. When He did proclaim it, it did it in such a way to give the doubters a way out. By saying the phrase “I AM” He is actually claiming to be God. Primary example:
Mr 8:27 ¶ Now Jesus and His disciples went out to the towns of Caesarea Philippi; and on the road He asked His disciples, saying to them, “Who do men say that I am?” So they answered, “John the Baptist; but some say, Elijah; and others, one of the prophets.” He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter answered and said to Him, “You are the Christ.” Then He strictly warned them that they should tell no one about Him. And He began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.
Jesus’s name is Emmanuel which LITERALLY means “God With Us”
Isa 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. {shall call: or, thou, O virgin, shalt call}
Mt 1:23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
Note: Immanuel and Emmanuel are the same name. Immanuel was translated from Hebrew and Emmanuel was translated from Greek, which accounts for the spelling difference.
The bible says that Jesus:
- Is from everlasting
- created all things
- knows all things
- Is one with the Father and the Spirit
- Is the Great I AM of the Old Tesiment which is the NAME that God gave moses when He was called to set the Jews free from slavery.
- Is the King of kings and Lord of lords
- Jesus allowed Himself to be worshipped and NEVER rebuked His followers for doing so.
- Jesus forgave sins
- The bible calls Him the Lord Jesus Christ indicating His deity. “The Lord” is a title ONLY attributed to God in the bible.
- Fulfilled
Jesus Christ is God
He was worshipped by His followers (eyewitnesses) and He Never told them not to, but welcomed it:
His disciples in the ship when He walked on water and caused the wind to cease and caused Peter to walk on the water with Him:
Mt 14:33 Then those who were in the boat came and worshiped Him, saying, “Truly You are the Son of God.”
His disciples worshipped Him after He rose from the dead:
Mt 28:9 And as they went to tell His disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, “Rejoice!” So they came and held Him by the feet and worshiped Him. Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell My brethren to go to Galilee, and there they will see Me.”
After the resurrection, the disciples worshipped Jesus, but Thomas doubted:
Mt 28:17 And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted.
Thomas:
Joh 20:27 Then He said to Thomas, “Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; and reach your hand here, and put it into My side. Do not be unbelieving, but believing.” And Thomas answered and said to Him, **“My Lord and my God!”**Jesus said to him, “Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
Jesus never tells ANYONE not to worship Him:
Joh 9:35 ¶ Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when He had found him, He said to him, “Do you believe in the Son of God?”
He answered and said, “Who is He, Lord, that I may believe in Him?”
And Jesus said to him, “You have both seen Him and it is He who is talking with you.” Then he said, “Lord, I believe!” And he worshiped Him. And Jesus said, “For judgment I have come into this world, that those who do not see may see, and that those who see may be made blind.”
The Kings that came to witness His birth:
Mt 2:11 And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh
The ruler:
Mt 9:18 ¶ While he spake these things unto them, behold, there came a certain ruler, and worshipped him, saying, My daughter is even now dead: but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live.
The leper whom Jesus healed:
Mt 8:2 And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.
Mic 5:2 But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting. {everlasting: Heb. the days of eternity}
(KJV)
This prophecy is of Christ’s first comming. His Goings forth have been from everlasting because Christ Jesus is God.
**Jesus Christ is one with the Father. He is God. **
Joh 14:8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.
9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?
10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake.
God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit are all one God
1Jo 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
(KJV)
Jesus declares Himself to be the great I AM of the Old Testiment
Joh 8:58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.
(KJV)

Ex 20:3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
(KJV)
Mt 4:10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
God’s plurality is found in Genesis
Ge 1:26 ¶ And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
(KJV)
John declares Christ Jesus to be God
Joh 1:1 ¶ In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
(KJV)
Joh 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
(KJV)
John declares that the world was made by Him (Jesus Christ)
Joh 1:10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
All things were made by Him and He was in the beginning with God (Father)
Joh 1:2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
Conclusion: Jesus Christ is God. Not a God but the God of the bible. God has three parts. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. All are equal yet the Son is submissive to the Father and the Holy Spirit is submissive to the Son. Jesus Christ was an EXAMPLE for us. He died on the cross for our sins so that we could go to heaven and be forgiven of our sins. He shed His blood for us.
