Re: Why isnt there a Miss Pakistan?
I do not think we need a Miss Pakistan but I am personally of the view that if any one wants to go ahead with it, she must not be stopped from exercising her right. However, in that case, she musn't think of using the country's name to prove her identity. Its just like what Meera did. Whatever she did was on her own, with her own free will and accord. THe government of Pakistan had nothing to do with that show of vulgarity and behayai. Now, what ticks me off is that she kept projecting herself as an ambassador of peace and a representative of Pakistan, as if the government of Pakistan had given her a clean chit to bare and dare.
I do not think that such vanity shows, in particular the Miss World or these type of contests promote a country's image or project women in positive light. If we have an identity we need to preserve it. What an individual does in her/his capacity is different from... what is being done under the aegis and with the blessings of the government.
