Why is shoaib being a jackass?(Merged)

well i just saw the report on Geo saying that shoaib is playing for durham and he’s aint even telling PCB about his plans, if he’ll join the camp for the Asia CuP.

made a mistake in the topic title, tried to fix it but no luck, well it is suppose to be shoaib akhtar

I'm sure the PCB wont be chasing him up regarding his plans, If he doesnt tell them just leave him out opf the team, simple as that

i don't think he is "being" one, he "is" one.

well he said once that he wanted to play for australia, well i don't he'd stay there one day if he acted like this.we've beated teams like new zealand and sri lanka without him.
i don't remember a time when wasim, waqar or imran khan did that.
M. Sami is there too he doesn't have any nakhrey, then why does this lallu

Like it or not, we need him and he knows it.

Thats the mentality which is making him Jackass. No one is bigger than team.

Thats not a mentality, that's reality. You can look it up in the record books. He has been the only bowler that can be RELIED upon to provide breakthroughs. That fact in itself, is a telling factor of the sorry state of affairs of Pakistan bowling.

*SKhan is absolutely right. You can't win games with your Fazl-E-Akbars and your Shabbir Ahmeds. You just cannot. People, That Is All.*

alright, out of 100 ODIs that shoaib has played, how many did we win because of him...

and one more thing..by just saying that he is the world's best and fastest bowler doesnt make him one...i say we dump this stupid bowler and move on with our life...there is plenty of talent in pakistan...when imran, wasim, or waqar retired, the cricket in paksitan didnt stop...similarly, if we throw this use-less arrogant guy out of the team, nothing much is going to happen...

our team is young and new but, doesn mean that they have a reason to loose. inzi and yoyo are the only experienced players in the team.
but where is waqar, wasim, imran why don't they help the team out. any time is see a clip of indian team training i see kapil dev and srinath and that's not all other are also there. its because they care about what will happen to the team. same way our team also needs the support and help of our lagendary players.

our legendary players want either too much fame for 1 min of training youngsters or they want $1million dollar per hour.

Exactly.

You say Pakistan has so much talent and we don't need Akhtar. Well, if your definition of talent is Shabbir Ahmed, Junaid Zia, Fazle-Akbar or Rana Iftikhar then I am afraid we will have an extemely painful road to the WC 07.

We do need Shoaib in the team but he has to prove his fitness first. Because of the scape-goating after the India series I am not surprised if he's pissed off, the man-management was abysmal on Miandad's and Inzi's part.

However, under the Woolmer regime, Shoaib won't last long if he doesn't commit himself properly. I can't see Woolmer criticising him then continue to play him. He'll either shape up or he won't be picked.

looks like reports of Shoaib being a jackass have been exaggerated.

Shoaib ditches Durham, Pledges Allegiance to Pakistan

Pakistan’s new coach Bob Woolmer has had “pep talk sessions” with a disgruntled Shoaib Akhtar who said he was now ready to join the camp for Asia Cup probables on Saturday.

Woolmer, who arrived in Lahore today to take charge of the camp, met with Shoaib in England where the fast bowler was playing for county side Durham, in an attempt to calm him down following his prolonged war of words with the PCB top brass over his injuries and fitness.

The former South African coach met Shoaib twice to sort out the differences and gave enough time to the speedster to wind up his stay in England and return home for joining the camp which started in Lahore on June 28.

Team manager Haroon Rashid confirmed to PTI that Shoaib would join the camp tomorrow, two days after the deadline that was given to him.

Shoaib was also quoted as saying in local media that he would be returning home this weekend to join the camp.

“I have decided to join the national camp from Saturday. I am feeling almost fit now,” he told ‘The News’ from London.

Without directly referring to Woolmer, Shoaib said he had decided to join the camp only because he knew “now there are people with the team who can back a player in crunch time”.

He also said he had no hesitation in playing under Inzamam-ul Haq’s captaincy. The two apparently had a fall out after Inzamam openly questioned Shoaib’s decision not to bowl on the third day of the third Test against India at Rawalpindi following an injury he sustained a day earlier.

However, he said players needed trust from the top management of the team and if there was no trust, then things could get complicated.

He said his top priority has always been to play for his country and help it win.

**“If the country needs me, I feel proud in saying yes. I have never cared about county contracts, especially when I get national duty call,” **he said adding that he was now more relaxed and looked forward to play a decisive role for his team during the Asia Cup beginning in Sri Lanka on July 16.

Meanwhile, Woolmer would formally begin his stint with a meeting with skipper Inzamam-ul Haq and team officials.

Woolmer’s arrival is expected to calm things down for the Pakistan cricket team, rocked by recriminations in the aftermath of the twin series defeat to India in March-April this year.

Rashid said new trainer Murry Stevenson had already completed the first round of fitness tests. “Stevenson is busy working out fitness programmes for the players,” he said.

Pakistan selectors are expected to announce the team on July 4 while the team is set to leave for Colombo on July 13.

This shoaib bashing has to stop. Seriuosly. I mean everything is proving that he was injured and it was pathetically handled by PCB. Anyways hope he performs consistently (whole paksitani team infact) under Woolmer.

Personally I have my doubts about Shoaib's behaviour but he should be given a chance to work with Woolmer. If he still doesn't behave himself he will be shipped out. Woolmer is not going to stand for his childish tantrums.

You are assuming Woolmer will be given such authority, which is pretty doubtful considering the PCB mindset.

^ I think he will be given enough authority. BEcause of the signs so far. He already has proposed Azhar's name to the selectors. So thats a new for a coach.
