The way I read it, polyandry in Tibet was not out of need, but out of greed.

My reference is more related to the power. Back in the days, you’re either a master nation, or a slave nation. If you are slave then your wives and daughters and mothers will be sex slaves of unknown men. If you have a choice between becoming sex slaves of strangers or letting your hubby have multiple wives so your tribe can produce more warriors, I am sure you will also pick the second option.

you can view polyandry as greed and I can view polygamy as a way to fulfill a man’s lust. bottom line is, both practices have happened in different cultures.
