Is it because they hold the majority in the senate?
According to the constitution of Pakistan you need 2/3rd majority in both houses, including the Senate to pass any constitutional amendments.
Is this the reason PML (Q) is so relaxed.

Relaxed?? your latest attempt to convice us after your 'Mush relaxed'post.
You are living in a dream world, very out of touch with the reality in Pakistan

You need 2/3 majority overall (Senate and NA). Even if you have 0 seats in Senate you can still do it. The coalition already has the support of 211 MNAs in the new National Assembly plus I am sure they have a few seats in The Senate. They need 228 overall. It would be wishful to think that they can't (independents, PML-Q defections and so on)
Re: Why is PML (Q) so Relaxed?
PML(Q) are lotas, people without nay principles, they like their leader believe only in one thing - Kursi, so watch the senators abandon the Q league after the new govt is in place.

GoldenAsif bhaijan. No you are wrong. To pass a constitution amendment you need 2/3rd majority in each house separately. I suggest you check the constitution of Pakistan under the procedure it lays down for amending the constitution. I will give the best example which demonstrate the requirements that you need 2/3rd majority in each house separately. That example being in 1999, when NS passed his shariat bill by 2/3rd majority in NA, but he failed in the Senate where he did not have this majority, so the amendment was not passed.
Re: Why is PML (Q) so Relaxed?
^ I stand corrected. Thanks for clarifying ![]()
Re: Why is PML (Q) so Relaxed?
I don't see a long future for PML-Q. Its MNA's and Senators will begin drifting towards PML-N and PPP. Thats how King's Party's dissolve once they are out of power. There is no ideological or strategic ideas the bind PML-Q lawmakers. Most of them belonged to PML-N previously or are part of the same families, and the only reason PML-Q was made was to accomodate those who wanted to be part of the ruling party faction. Thats it. If they see that they won't be a ruling party any more, they have no incentive to stick it out with the Chaudhries.
In Pakistan's national politics, there is PPP, anti-PPP and religious parties. Plus a few ethnic regional parties (MQM, ANP, Baloch etc). Thats it.
Re: Why is PML (Q) so Relaxed?
they have no option but to relax and enjoy now...

hahaha Aaalsi. You are trying so hard.
I think the real reason they are relaxed is because they dont care. They have virtually cut the cord with Mushy. He no longer has the backing of the intelligence agencies and they have no reason to stick their neck out for him. PML-Q will cease to exist as a group shortly...
Re: Why is PML (Q) so Relaxed?
OMG: Does this mean PPP and PML (N) will impeach and remove President Musharaf, as they promised the elctorate. ![]()

All experts agree his days are numbered. Enjoy the last of Mush’s corrupt show! ![]()

Asked if thought Musharraf’s days are numbered, Strobe Talbott, former US Deputy Secretary of State, told NDTV that “Yes. What that number is and how that plays itself out, whether it is impeachment or what for me would leave office, might snowball probably nobody here is going to judge”.
He said the American establishment was “worried” but there “are quite a few people not just in the Democrat Party who feel that the Bush administration is…Hanging there with Musharraf for too long”.

does anyone out there believe in anything but kursi? There are no saints in paki politics, only evils and greater evils.
Re: Why is PML (Q) so Relaxed?
The great President Musharaf does not believe in kursi, only national interest. Despite the lies that had been propogated against the great President Musharaf, he has delivered the Freeest and Fairest elections in Pakistan history. :k:

Aalsi you are wrong there...you need a 2/3 majority in joint Senate and National Assembly electorate...and not in isolation...and it seems it will not be a very difficult task for the newly formed coalition under the present circumstances...if the president survives the judicial restoration...and is willing to take the matters to such extremes...
Re: Why is PML (Q) so Relaxed?

Didn't the algreato presidentee said that he will leave if people of no longer support him? Well, he was virtually campaigning for his lota league and telling people that if they support him they should vote for q league. On election day people say BIG NO!!! If it wasn't about the kursi thn what is he still doing around?
Re: Why is PML (Q) so Relaxed?
Yazdi bhaijan. I urge you to check the constitution of Pakistan under the procedure it lays down for amending the constitution.
The example I gave about Nawaz Sharif, where the lower house passed his shariat bill by 2/3rd majority in NA, but he failed in the Senate where he did not have this majority, so the amendment was not passed.
Re: Why is PML (Q) so Relaxed?
You need 2/3 majority overall (Senate and NA).
You're talking about the impeachment not the constitutional amendments. There are slightly different procedures... Anyway, once Mushrraf is thrown out rest of the constitutional issues can be taken care off easily. The illegal constitutional amendments made by him were only for 2 reasons to protect him & to prolong his rule.
Re: Why is PML (Q) so Relaxed?
Aalsi bhaijan…I urge you to check the procedure for impeachment of the president…you need a joint 2/3 majority for such impeachment in both the houses combined… and not in isolation…
Re: Why is PML (Q) so Relaxed?
you are too much dude.
