Re: Why is music considered haram?

Music is 100% pure halal. Enough said.

Re: Why is music considered haram?

Is he a woman? I always see "Him" used to refer to him.

Or is he sexless?

Jesus' "dad' should be a male in my opinion but then again I am not an expert on celestial genders.

Re: Why is music considered haram?

I dont know why we have to explore the ‘why’ part …

as a true Muslim, its should be enough for us to know that Prophet asked us to stay away from it. Asking why and how was the trait of Jews and Prophet :saw2: also forbids us from asking too many questions as it leads to unnecessary rebelliousness and hence destruction of eeman.

Re: Why is music considered haram?

^ To add to it, Its always better to be safe than sorry.

Re: Why is music considered haram?

Sounds a bit dictatorial to me. Don’t ask too many questions. Don’t ask why. Just follow.etc etc.

Questioning things has been the most important reason why we humans have achieved what we have.

Re: Why is music considered haram?

bhai, why jews and Muslims men should have beard? Why you cant marry your own brother or sister (no other mamals has this restriction so biologically its possible)? When we dont question such and take them at face value then why question music.

all religions have their guidelines and dos and donts and questioning them is not going to change them. You can follow a religion or not follow it at all. But when you follow it, follow as much rules as you can, and when you decide not to follow it then dont question the rules cause you are not following it anyways.

Re: Why is music considered haram?

I’m sure the question the Op is asking for has been answered on this thread as well as various other forums/websites. One wishes to follow or not is on their own discretion, as in the end they will be held responsible solely on what they chose to follow. All we can do is share what we’ve learnt.

Re: Why is music considered haram?

I think we should absolutely question everything. Why I don't marry my sister? Cuz I grew up with her and we have sibling love and its just not natural for me to convert that into any form of sexuality. Also DNA studies have confirmed its a bad idea!

I'm atheist and hence obviously coming at this from a different angle. I don't think anyone should follow any religion blindly as I feel all of them are flawed. A religious person will obviously want to just follow the prescribed rules. The problem happens when the rules arent clear about what is and what isn't allowed. Hence the nonstop debate on what's halaal and what's haraam.

The reason why I am pointing out or even urging my brothers to question things is because I want them to see that it just doesn't make sense :D

Re: Why is music considered haram?

Dont know if it is halal or haram and not even interested in know it. Perhaps, some times it is better this way :)

Re: Why is music considered haram?

why don't you start with your own self questioning why don't I believe in God? why do I tell others to not to believe in God? why do I drink? why do I have an avatar of yellow drink in a glass? why do I have this name sharabee? do I like Amitabh Bachan? do I like his movies? why do I like demonstrating that I like alcohol? Why do I love talking about my belief all the time? do I like looking down at people who believe in God? Why? why? why? etc etc

Re: Why is music considered haram?

^ 100% agree with Hareem...

May Allah Tallah bless us & Guide us to the right path Ameen!

Re: Why is music considered haram?

*for the record, I am not in favor of any of Junaid Jamshed's current views on politics and islam.

i was surprised to hear that junaid jamshed considers music a form of communication, hence he considers it fine. His argument was, that music can absorb the soul and essence of a person's emotional feelings. Weird, but true.

On the other hand, science concludes the same thing. It is indeed a form of communication. Another example: nothing soothes a baby more then a mother's melody or a little toy right above it's craddle that makes music? Nothing soothes a baby more then when you communicate with it in music.

Re: Why is music considered haram?

My take with rules is simple. If I want to follow a system, I follow the rules of the system too without questioning. If I dont want to follow the system then I should not question the rules cause it does not matter. I made a decsion to follow islam, so I am going to submit to all the subsets of that system (rules/policies/laws), so I should not question the rules. You dont follow Islam so it should not matter what the rules are, so you should not question them either.

Tell you what. When you question the rules of a system while you are not a follower of that system, you are actually justifying why you dont follow it. Justification is a proof itself that your choices are not normal. Its like you will see Gay pride parade, but how many times have you seen a straight people pride parade on the street?. Why? Because hetros dont have to justify their act. They are normal.

Re: Why is music considered haram?

well i am no expert clearly but if music is haram how come pretty much all muslims listen to music, have it in their weddings etc? pork is haram but i don't see any juicy center-cut loin-chops being gorged down by muslims. are there different grades of haramness?

and LOL@max suddenly becoming music is haraam advocate.

Re: Why is music considered haram?

rules and following of those rules are 2 different things. Crossing the red light is illegal but how comes cops in USA issue hundreds if not thousands of tickets every day to the drivers who do that.

Re: Why is music considered haram?

I do agree and respect the sentiment that you follow a system and that's it. I just wanted to point out that the lack of questioning becomes a problem when the rules arent clear on whats haraam and whats not.

Regarding the gay pride parade.. they feel they need to do that to show solidarity with other gays and to show us that they arent going to change.. for us hetros we are in the majority and the globally accepted NORM.. so obviously we dont feel the need to justify it.. This isn't transferable to religion.. there are more religious people than atheists in this world but religious people are the ones that are usually in everyone's faces waiving their religion's flag. Although Atheists have recently started publically expressing their views on religion as well. And why not?

But yes.. by questioning religion maybe on some level I AM making a point that look this is why I dont follow it.. because it doesnt make much sense.

Re: Why is music considered haram?

tlk, analogies are weird creatures. i guess more people jump red lights than commit murder.

i guess my question is is music as haram as pork or alcohol? i don't see it having the same level of taboo. why is that?

Re: Why is music considered haram?

I already have answers to ALL those questions. Yes.. ALL of them.
