well lasagne is considered a delicacy because of obvious reasons, its not part of the local cuisine, ingredients come very expensive and not everyone can make it well, kinda akin to a gora dude making a hell of a biryani, that would be considered totally exotic. baking, chinese/thai food, pizzas all fall under the same category. its a true gauge of ones culinary skills i guess if you can make stuff beyond the usual salans, pulaos and biryanis.
Where do you find lasagne sheets in Pakistan? Don't think I've ever seen them, but haven't really looked for them either.
actually making lasagne is not even half as hard as some of our tough desi dishes ....
Agree.
Lasagna doesn't even require half the skills or time you need for biryani, nihari, haleem, etc. Anyone who can make those dishes should be known as the WOW cook.
Agree.
I had my fair share of rishta-parade but never once anyone asked me if I could cook or what I could cook..these trends are dying slowly..not diminished completely but it's getting better.
That is quite CLEARLY WRONG. Every girl SHOULD be asked what she can cook, what's the point of being a wife otherwise??? (Take that in jest).
baking a decent cake is so hard in Pakistan. You only get those crappy, creamy, fluffy ones in the shops.
Baking one is easy, finding one that isn't fluffy with oily fake cream on is difficult / impossible.
why? u get all ingredients to make a good cake.
Yes you do, bake your own, it's better. I baked n decorated one myself bcos I couldn't find anything better. It was remembered by all, even now when I go back I get sked if i want to make another one. It's been years.
But.......but............it has CHEESE in it, Halwa? Surely, that should be wow enough.
It might be because lasagna can be time consuming....it looks complicated with all the layers. And......some consider it to be a pricey dish because it has so many ingredients. Cheese can be expensive. And....of course it depends upon the complexity of the lasagna.
Cheese, glorious cheese! Actually, I never have found proper cheese in Pakistan. Perhaps I should start an export business to there.
Re: Why is lasagne a really "WOW!" dish in Pakistan... And what other's are there?

A Pakistani actress once said in an interview.
"Main England main yey dekh k hairan rah ga-e k wahan bachcha bachcha English bolta hay." :)
