Re: Why is it so easy for people to tell others off?
**just as a side note, isnt your friend being hypocritical by saying how alcohol is bad for you etc etc if shes comitting Zina. Hypocrisy is a big sin in islam and hypocrites are placed in the lowest level of hell. **
as for yourself, the fact that you dont like it when she points out that drinking is a sin etc etc is because your not that far gone yet. deep inside you you probably know that it isnt right and that you shouldnt be doing this which your friend is pointing out for you. in fact you should be happy that your friend, although hypocritical is looking out for you. Imagine on the day of judgement when you get judged for drinking alcohol. your friend gave you a chance to think about drinking and you did not listen to her. In a way, god is giving you a chance to really think about whether you wanna go against him or not.
provided your not very religious, i.e. dont pray eat non-halal, but also dont go adding to the list of things that may be considered a sin by god. lets say sometime down the road you start practising, although you are able to ask for forgiveness for lets say drinking, would you rather have a clean record (in that you havent drank ever) or not.
inshallah your guided by god as to what is right and wrong. and i hope that if you do decide to drink, then it isnt as wow as youd expect and puts you on somewhat of a straight path.
I’ll just point out that this is NOT what a munafiq (loosely translated as hypocrite) refers to. It is someone who feigns being a Muslim but is something else inside. Some examples of this from the time of Nabi were people who pretended to be Muslim but plotted against them. That’s an example of a munafiq and not for instance someone who prays but may have some other faults.
