Before 9/11 25,000 people a year were reverting...Thanks to 9/11 and the publicity hype against Islam 100,000 people a year are reverting...
For 2 or 3 years Quran was the #1 bestseller on Amazon...That gave rise to writers like Robert Spencer and western nourished pups like Amina Wadud and Irshad Manji to counter the growth of this expanding phenomenon...
Despite all that, Islam keeps on growing and the enemies keep on hating...
And it's true...Islam is dynamic to the core...I've been around a bit and seen a few things in my life...Islam is the reward of my quests and searches...Wouldn't have it any other way...

well islam is the only religion tht makes sense from every means.....and malhot,islam is not only growing by birth and also by christians,hindus etc convberting to muslims....
in england,10,000 highly qualified and successful people in their fields accept islam and thts quite a known thing...

Islam is'nt the fastest growing religion cos of population..If that were the case,we would never heard the last of it from islams critics..though islam is being shed in bad light due to certain individuals..it has on the other hand bought islam to the fore and produced curious minds which study islam and come to the conclusion that its what they may have been looking for and not what the media or many muslims portray it to be.
mashaAllah, i personally know to individuals (westerners) who have recently reverted after studying islam...9/11 does have some positives for Muslims u know!!

The way things are going these days, anyone who does not wish to follow Islam is free to leave without having any penatly incurred, unless I would assume the individual happens to be residing in Saudi Arabia. Then again many nations willfully accept refugees and any such individual could flee from the resident nation to another in order to leave Islam.
Therefore, to suggest that if Muslims were given a choice they would quit Islam is incorrect.

numbers may be increasing but power and influense is steadily decreasing.
there is no manfacturing industry at all in any islamic country like in west,china and india.also education is neglected.

anjjann, you know, if a Muslim leaves Islam, chances are that he/she will not get stoned to death for it. Because Shariah is not practiced/implemented the way it was in the past, barring a country like Saudi Arabia. There are plenty of Musims outside the Muslim world who are free to quit Islam without having to worry about persecution.

There could be many reasons, some stated here: population growth, answers all the questions of life & death, interest post 9/11, it is difficult to leave Islam once born into it, westerners can convert to Islam easily while Muslims can't. But to say it is because it is 'dynamic' is ridiculous. Dynamic is the opposite of fundamentalist and as the 'true muslims' here will tell you a Muslims is nothing if not fundamentalist and resistant to change.
