Hello! It is 21st century guys. Why you all have to decide about a woman's clothing (unless you are a mehram then it is another story).
If Hareem wants to cover up, may Allah make her stronger in character.
If on the other hand Tammy wants to wear bikini, may Allah decide about her future.
Who are we as bunch of men, telling praayee-aurat what not to wear?

ummm, its kinda farz in our deen to do tableeq, to enjoin good and forbid evil. Having said that, the dae'ee in the video isn't forcing any women to cover up, all he's saying is that from an Islamic prespective, they must! and its not like he's speaking of a personal desire for muslim women to cover up, he's talking about what is instilled in the quran and sunnah...

It may be roasting 100 degrees but these clowns will want everyone to wear a tent.
Ofcourse they know men cannnot be trusted to loom at women with anything less than evil thoughts. How do they know that? Because they think all men are like themselves.
Which in itself is an admission of their perversion. Yet you guys and gals won't slap these guys silly and send them packing...because they told you it's all God's word thru the Q!

Good point Pinks. There are a lot of faraez (must do's) to watch for. However you can divide them up as stuff you must do to fulfill Haqooq Allah (God's rights) and the other stuff that you must do to fulfill Haqooq al Ibad (individual's rights).
It is a right of person (man or woman) to dress the way they like. Somebody wants to grow 10 foot long beard, or 6 inch, it is his face and his choice. The same thing goes with women. They want to cover their heads, great! More power to them. However no one not even hadees gives a right to a Mullah to go chase down a woman just because her ankle was showing.
Violation of Haqooq al Ibad is a HUGE no no! And according to Islamic teachings Allah may forgive infractions on Haqooq Allah, but there is no forgiveness against snatching away haqooq al Ibad.

I was referring to the video posted... no where is the dae'ee chasing women who expose thier ankles... he's just telling them they cant.
Secondly, and I am not targetting u here, but i dont get why every time a dae'ee preaches on a particular topic, ppl have to divert their attention from the issue being discussed to huqooq-ul-idaad.... its as if such dae'ee somehow downplay huqooq-ul-ibaad or something? a dae'ee would have more knowledge with regards to huqooq-ul-ibaad then most ppl, and inshallah more affirmative practise as well. Good treatment is enjoined on all Muslims, but I dont get why the dae'ees are indirectly targetted everytime they talk of any other topic...
Btw, Allah SWT will also ask us on the DOJ as to what we did when the laws of Allah SWT were being broken... and on that day, the answer that we were upholding huqooq-ul-ibaad by letting ppl do what they want as it is their "right" will not suffice.

I agree with you. When a non muslim asks me a question about Islam then I try to answer him in a best way according to my knowledge, I believe the best dawah to give people is by our actions. However muslim men and women should all talk readily about the benefits of hijab so people can understand its reasons, we should do it without making it seem that we are telling them to wear hijab.

I am more fearful of my sister with her friends alone in Pakistan without a male escort than I would if she does the same in Canada
Because when you hide something, it becomes very attractive to see what's underneath

However "Muslim men" should only talk about their "mehram" women [tans: women from close family] as to how they should dress. They cannot judge a "parayee aurat" [trans: women not from their family]. So you should let your brother or father tell you not to wear something they don't like. However they have no right to judge your neighbor's household.

FYI. Dae-ee's and Mullahs don't typically chase women, or do suicide bombings. [Even if these dae-ees do end up chasing and catching a women, they would need a kilo of viagra and even then there is no guarantee].
Instead it is Da'ee and Mullah's hateful and negative propaganda that propels young Muslims to go mad. Especially young Muslim men are very vulnerable. They listen to the da'ees and da'iays and go outside and do hateful things.
Hitler is not accused of killing someone with his own hands. It was his Nazi party and his hateful da'wa (Mein Kampf) that resulted in millions being sent to gas chambers.
The Muslim bombers of 9/11, 7/7 were no da'ees. Instead they were , suicidal followers of such hateful da'ees.
In this video, Mr. Dedaat should have first apologized for the atrocious behavior of Muslim men in Muslim countries before ranting and raving about TV ads.

I think the question of Mr. Deedat was equally extreme when it stated that it is a form of oppression. He just exposed the other extreme as well then.
But generally speaking we should be sensitive to other peoples views and when we live in a multi-cultural society we should take a path which is least offensive to all living in it. I don’t we can deny that revealing some part of your body for women is alluring and distracting and conjures uninvited thoughts. And this a very well recognized even in western societies but many of them are hypocritical about it in their every lives, the reason I say this is because in western professional work places there are dress codes dressing decent. So if that is what is regarded as decent in one environment of theirs then why not during daily life.

There was no need to repeat your words again as I did read your post carefully in the first place. Even a brother and a father should tell their women in a polite and wise way.
If some non muslim woman comes and asks you why women wear hijab in islam or did Mary(as) wear hijab etc then its your responsibility to answer her questions in a best way, No?
