So its around $3.50 a gallon in my area of USA, and its pretty much talk of the town ..
News is telling us that people are changing thier driving habbits, they are taking public transportation, everyone is talking about buying a hybrid vehicle,
I was wondering
would people be happy if it becomes $2.50 a gallon .. I bet ya , they will be happy.
so if you drive an average of 1200 miles a month, and your car runs 20 miles a gallon, that is a difference of $60.00 a month.
$60.00 a month …
Really, is $60.00 a month such a big deal ?? … maybe lesser trips to Starbucks would save you more than that

its a big deal for a lot of people. tell it to people who make 5.25 per hour. it means extra 12 hrs of work per month. plus if the fuel charges are up then the charges of other utilities are up too...
I want gas prices to go up. The more they go up, hopefully the less we will use and better it will be for the environment. Not to mention it will push for innovation in the energy sector and US's energy policy, which quiet frankly is well in favor of the oil companies.
Yes Miss genious .. thanks for pointing that out :D
But I was talking about changing driving habbits, combining errands as Femme mentioned ..
Changing the way you drive would not bring the prices down of everything else .. so why bother ?
In 2006, State of Michigan fined several gas stations $40,000 for hiking the price up for no reaosn becuase of 9-11 in 2001.
Instead of finding all the customers and pying them themoney back, State ordered those gas station owners to lower their prices by 1 dollar a gallon for a day.
People lined up theri cars and weighted for more than 1 hours on average to get a orice break of $1/gallon.
On a 16 gallon tank, that is a saving of $16.00.
some of them probably burned more dollars of gas while standing in line and car engine running idle for 1 hour plus ..

Good luck with that thinking Ahmad .. owneres of Exxon and SHell and Cheveron are never going to let that happen ..
EVer heard of Air Car .. runs 100% on compressed air
india has plans to import that car in mid 2008
USA??? no way man .. they will never let that happen ...

Naaaaaaaaah. I don't worry about that kinda of stuff because if I do, my husband says, you're only going to save $60...now that's not a big deal, is it? So I just relax and go about my business.
Price is higher here. Taking public transport is great, but even prices on that are going up. And not every city is equipped with good public transport, nor is riding a bike to the grocery store safe in many areas, and sometimes you can't do that depending on the weather. Suburban areas tend not to have intricate subway or bus systems either. The government really needs to work on expanding public transportaion. I mean, that would be increased jobs if you look at it that way, but they're more interested in helping their big business friends sell oil to consumers at retardedly high prices so they can retire with record-level pensions.

May be I would like to give those 60 bucks for Sadqa:( .And once it used to be .99 cents a gallon here.
I am not sure if something has mentioned what I am going to mention, but here it is:
You are not looking at the bigger picture. You are accounting that $60 extra that one is paying in filling up the gas tank every month, higher gas prices mean more than that. Think about a truck driver who delivers the milk from farms to the stores. He's filling up a bigger tank a lot more than us. That's really hurting his pocket. In return, he's charging the store more to deliver milk to the store. The "milkman" is charging more for his milk because he's having to pay more to have the food for cows delivered at his ranch. Obviously store will not cut its profit to do a favor to its customers. The store, in return, will charge higher for the gallon of milk.
So now I am not only paying $60 extra for the gas for my car, but also for the milk. Let's look at an even bigger picture. Remove the focus from milk and look at delivering EVERYTHINGfrom bread to vegetables to eggs and what not to the store. Not only the producer is charging higher, the truck driver is also charging higher and then the store is charging higher. The customer is really the one paying for all this. So higher gas prices hurt just a little more than that, especially to hourly workers who are not fortunate enough to make as much as some of us make. My 2 cents.
