Why has wedding planning become so obsessive

Re: Why has wedding planning become so obsessive

I've been reading this particular thread for the last couple of days and feel that i've got to put my two rupees into the mix.
For a young girl, (at that point) her wedding is going to be the first major event of her life, for me personally it was more important than my graduation because i was making a committment to spend the rest of my life with the one person who i felt was my soul mate and i wanted the day to be special. yes i did obsess about how i looked, my outfit, the hall, invites etc But we had a really great day. years later, having had 2 beautiful little girls i can share those memories with them. It still is one of the most important events of my life, together with having my children BUT i personally dont feel the need to criticize anybody who wants to have the most perfect day.
Maybe in the long run it wont matter what colour the table runners were or whether the centre pieces matched or not but it really is upto the individual to do what they feel most cpomfortable with and to be honest i'm getting a bit sick of people judging others about how they want their big days to go. If you're happy to have a simple event good for you But equally if you want to have something bigger go ahead and do it..
A bit more solidarity folks and a bit less judging methinks!
Rant over.
