WHY girls work?

Re: WHY girls work?

i nvr said that it harms them..u ppl dont read well do u?

Re: WHY girls work?

^ i agree with that… so we’re on the same page.

women have the right to choose…neither is right nor wrong…i nvr said that (for those of you who think i did)…I choose to stay home because that is my preference…and no one should tell me that im wasting my degree for doing so. I dont see it that way…i am getting my education out of the way b4 i have kids so i dont have to worry about it later in life. If need be…i have a degree to fall back on…but that is MY choice!

PCG…u have no right to tell me that im wasting my degree away just because in the end i choose to stay home and raise my kids or that i shouldnt have taken up someone else’s seat…i earned this seat…i worked my ass off just to get into a good law school…i deserved it. The person who didnt get admited didnt work nearly as hard as i did…so how can u sit there and tell me that he/she should have gotten the opportunity rather than me? I will utilize my degree when the time comes…but that doesnt mean i need to work while my kids are young. I wanna be able to make breakfast for them in the morning without having to rush off for work…i wanna be able to make dinner for them rather than doing carry out. I wanna be able to read them a story every night without feeling exhausted. I wanna be there for my husband rather than turning over in the bed and sayin…“not tonight hun im too tired” Sure…Some women can be superwoman and do it all…but i dont wanna be that woman…i just wanna be a mom and a wife.

Re: WHY girls work?

exactly.

Re: WHY girls work?

thank you

Re: WHY girls work?

like i said..thats your opinion…your entitled to it…it’s not right nor wrong. Im entitled to my opinion as well so dont tell me that i dont get it!! i could very well say that you dont get it…but i wont because i dont belittle ppl like that.

Re: WHY girls work?

Once in her infinitesamal wisdom, PCG advised all guppies and guppans to take LSAT at gunpoint. I say aginst you, she ain’t faring so well. :hehe:

Re: WHY girls work?

Those who claim that day care centers create smart kids will soon be putitng socks in their mouths when they see Angel_eyes' home-schooled little einsteins winning Howard Scripps spelling bee championships.

Take your pick. You want a smart Georgetown law grad as your teacher or a mediocre education major from Kalamazoo college?:D

Re: WHY girls work?

^ I don't know...lets start with you...

Re: WHY girls work?

hahahha… that will kalamazoo community college in animal science for pcg where she can work closely with pigs. an online nursing degree for nia_khan (so she doesnt have to cook any chapati… and can better spend her time cleaning doodoo). and a car repairing diploma for our south indian grease monkey pristpine.

Re: WHY girls work?

I agree exactly with Angel Eyes. those are my exact thoughts too.

I'd rather learn from looking at other people....than learn by trial an error. like they say a wise person learns from the mistakes of others and a fool learns from their own mistakes. I have seen what happens to the kids of so-called working women...and I wouldnt want my kids to turn out like that.

PCG, NIA.....only start preaching ur ideas once ur kids are in their 20s. then we'll know if you were right or wrong.

Re: WHY girls work?

Chill, dont get your dhotis in a twist, southie.

Re: WHY girls work?

thanks dope… much appreciated.
however i nvr said that i want to home school my children (although i do think i would do a gr8 job doing so if i have the patience)…i just dont want day cares/nannies/babysitters raising my children. They are afterall the ones that spend most of the time with your kids while these career mom’s go out to work trying to become “independent” from their spouses:rolleyes:

Re: WHY girls work?

:rotfl:

Re: WHY girls work?

there's no right way....different circumstances...individual outlook...what might work for some might not work for others,

i was raised in a family where both my parents worked, but my parents were still very much involved in my upbringing...

personally for me watching my mum manage both the household and hold a high position in her professsion aswell as my dad :) hehe has given me an outlook on life which i feel im lucky to have,If one chooses to be at home and raise their kids then so be it that isnt a lesser choice, but if one chooses to work then thats okay too, i like the feeling of working, and being able to provide financially and i believe that i can BALANCE bringing up kids and working!

Re: WHY girls work?

nicely written…i wish more ppl had the same view as you.
For me personally…id feel guilty leaving my baby home for 8 hrs a day/5 days a week after just giving birth 3 months ago ( 3 mos=average maternity leave)

Re: WHY girls work?

Thanx a million…for soo many days i wanted to wirte that but didn’t bother…but thanx dude!

Re: WHY girls work?

some peopel mentioned financial independence etc. etc...and how youd'd want your own income for whatever reason. Once ur married, everything belongs to both of you together anyway...there shouldnt be a "this is mine and that is urs" kinda attitude. I have heard about alot of these women who talk about "this is my money and this is his".,...I dont understand why they want to be divided....

its always about "this is my car...thats ur car..." etc. etc. it just causes divisions and problems.....I would never say that to my husband....everything that is mine is also his and vice versa.

Re: WHY girls work?

By financial independence they mean... if the guy turns out to be an asshole or god forbid dies, then ure still capable of living. You're not dependent on your husband. There's nothign wrong with having ur husband pay for everything but u shudn't be held prisoner by it... just because you can doesn tmean you always should.. im sure women willl share a lot with their hubbies n thas all gud n stuff... they're with him coz they love him, because they WANT to be with him, not coz they HAVE to coz of finances.

Re: WHY girls work?

if god forbid the guy turns out to be an “asshole” or dies, then if she is educated, she can easily get a job. doesnt mean she has to work whilst she is happily living with him…

Re: WHY girls work?

Depends on where you live and what time period you are talking about. When I was a baby, long before your babies were concieved, preschools were expensive. Now, the school districts in our area have opened up free preschools for parents who can't afford preschools. It still leaves the middle-class family in a tight spot, cuz they can't get financial aid, but the preschool education is still a drain. Do a random survey at a local elementary school and see the percentages of students who went to pre-school. In my day, the percentage wasn't too high.
