Yup I was married and have gone through it i.e why I post this thread. It’s not about the cost and I never said it in my post. The point is when a person is getting married he/she wants to look good obviously, and I’m not against it but going over the top like searching for makeup artist, dresses and other stuff a year ago madly but not giving importance and trying to know the person you’re getting makes you feel like you’re marrying to those stuff not you.

I don’t think its unreasonable for a girl to want to look nice on her wedding. Most girls do not know how to professionally apply makeup, its not something they teach us in school so that’s why we look for a makeup artist. I do makeup on brides and if they didn’t have to pay someone to do their makeup - they would not. Similarly, you’d expect her to cater the food and not cook it herself for her wedding. Hopefully. You’d expect her to at least want to purchase something nice to wear instead of sewing it herself.

Simplicity is great but if she can afford to look nice on her wedding day, there’s nothing materialistic about that.
