Why Fazlullah's Radio still operates in Swat [split: EMERGENCY IMPOSED IN PAKISTAN]

The Maulana is still operating with his radio stations because PEMRA didn’t have much authority in FATA territories. I am not sure whether SWAT is part of FATA territories, but he began his fitna in FATA areas, and therefore was difficult to control. Add to that the fact that this whole Taliban group operating out of NWFP is very well armed. Jang is reporting on how administrators in NWFP fear him and how easily the police surrendered their stations to him when we came in for take over. I am not sure how he got so influential, but he must have weapons that he’s gotten so much his way.

I haven’t been hearing any news regarding who’s been captured/taken into custody? Any information on that? What’s going on with the judges and lawyers who have been arrested?

Re: EMERGENCY IMPOSED IN PAKISTAN

a single truck carrying a jammer can jam that radio , if some one wishes to jam them , not a big task

Re: EMERGENCY IMPOSED IN PAKISTAN

You should go and ride on that jamming truck through Swat. Be vary of roadside bombs.

Re: EMERGENCY IMPOSED IN PAKISTAN

you don't have to take truck inside swat to stop FM waves over swat

you can easily do that from outside swat , but if anyone wishes to jam

Re: EMERGENCY IMPOSED IN PAKISTAN

Such a powerful jammer would block other legitimate frequencies as well.

Re: EMERGENCY IMPOSED IN PAKISTAN

^ right and we wouldnt want to take such extreme measures..

Re: EMERGENCY IMPOSED IN PAKISTAN

where are u living , i think you are in 17 or 16 century and don't even know about jammer how they work

Re: EMERGENCY IMPOSED IN PAKISTAN

Maybe we do, but the govnt has not had the will to take strong measures, partly because of all the detractors and jihadi supporters.

Re: EMERGENCY IMPOSED IN PAKISTAN

Then go ahead and tell me how easy it is to block frequency hoping low power FM stations from long ranges?

Re: EMERGENCY IMPOSED IN PAKISTAN

honeslty tell me have you ever read about jammers or not
even a first semester student of telecom from any third rated college knows this

injecting the noice frequency to the same frequency on which taliban are playing and bing bang bow
they fill force to change and as they are trying to talk publicaly so you can easily find the new freq again and again bing bang so simple

Re: EMERGENCY IMPOSED IN PAKISTAN

I don't know much about jamming, but my guess is the gov't was chickening out because

a. many in the government are jihadi supporters, secretly
b. anything that opposes Mush, they'll side with
c. there has ALWAYS been this trend of ignoring NWFP and Balochistan - no one takes them seriously, especially the villagers. So, no wonder some do takay ka maulvi has been able to brainwash up and down NWFP without raising an eyebrow. After all, if he's got a beard and he recites kalimah, he has got to be right!

Re: EMERGENCY IMPOSED IN PAKISTAN

It should not be difficult for the army (with todays technology) to jam an amateur FM radio operated by those guys. The army is already there killing them, and its a warzone, and they can jam the radio braodcast. What else will be blocked in the process? Radio Pakistan? Voice of Amreeka? BBC ?

Re: EMERGENCY IMPOSED IN PAKISTAN

nothing will be blocked other then that frequency because all operate on different frequencies

Re: EMERGENCY IMPOSED IN PAKISTAN

even with tiny FM transmitter you can run your own FM station and even can block any others

Re: Why Fazlullah's Radio still operates in Swat split: EMERGENCY IMPOSED IN PAKISTA

Even the US army has problems in using jamming to block radio controlled explosives in Iraq, as it also interferes with their own FM communications. Getting a high powered jammer that can block signals for miles requires a strong power source and permanent installation in Swat. Such an expensive installation will be blown up by terrorists in a few days.

Re: Why Fazlullah's Radio still operates in Swat [split: EMERGENCY IMPOSED IN PAKISTA

yaar you seriously living in 17 or 18 th century , don't even know how the radio in your home works
there is a hell of difference when you use radio signals for explosives and when you use for propagenda , one is done at the time when they want to explode only and second have to do publicaly , if the terrorist want to do propagenda only secretly then who will listen to them ( they are also doing that when talking to each other but govt is picking them from a long time thats why you heard that 4 terrorist are coming some time 6 etc ), in swat they are doing publicaly 24 hours a day like FM 101 in your city b and during explosive you are doing only for a second and before and after know one knows at which frequency they have send signals to explode

jamming signals doesn't means that there will be no signal at all , it means you distroy the normal radio signal by multiplying your own signal at the same frequency and by doing so normal transmission is changed and no one can listen to the original one ( this is the most layman term definition, i can't explain more simpler then this )

Re: Why Fazlullah's Radio still operates in Swat split: EMERGENCY IMPOSED IN PAKISTA

do u think they listen to Rahim Shah on the fm for motivation and 'halaal' music?

Re: Why Fazlullah's Radio still operates in Swat [split: EMERGENCY IMPOSED IN PAKISTA

do you think , there is no ordinary public in swat

Re: Why Fazlullah’s Radio still operates in Swat split: EMERGENCY IMPOSED IN PAKISTA

i was referring to the fazlullah and co. specifically :vivo:

Re: Why Fazlullah’s Radio still operates in Swat [split: EMERGENCY IMPOSED IN PAKISTA

we were not talking on FM reciever (ordinary radio) in your home rather on FM transmitter
fazlullah with his FM transmitter is broadcasting his propagenda to all people in swat etc
