US schools ? Even if they teach it they do not encourage kids to use it for exams , although it is speedier than hand printing , isn’t it ?

**handwriting will soon disappear anyways. i remember when we were kids, we were told to have a good handwriting for which the kids had to practice it on 4-lined notebooks.
i see a big decline in urdu Khush-Khatii. the art of ****kasheedah-naveesii ****disappeared completely…the way Ghalib, Iqbal, and other old timers used to write.
i tried a lot to achieve that but i never quite got there. here is a sample of my handwriting in urdu:**

Pir sahib you need to get your eyes checked , you are getting old. I clearly said cursive handwriting. 
Kids do not need to go to school to learn cursing , they can pick it up from the air.

We learned in 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade, they told us we'd have to use it in middle and high school.. But we never do/did..

As a kid I studied the American curriculum and our language books had cursive handwriting too. I've had cursive handwriting since 3rd grade.

UK schools stopped using cursive writing way before 90s. I wonder what school you went to.

No they didn't.
I learnt it at primary school in the 90s. We used to have hand writing practice using those Berol handwriting pens and the specially lined paper and then we were given a special fountain pen in year 6.
I'm sure my cousins also learnt it at their primary school a few years ago.

I learnt to write in cursive at school in the 90's . Calligraphy is a beautiful thing and it will be sad if the art of handwriting dies because of computers.

In most school districts, they start cursive from the 3rd grade. There are a very few schools where there is/was a proposal to do away with cursive altogether. Don't know if they succeeded or not.
Most folks at my work place write pretty good cursive.
