i went all out on all three days- after all, its once in a lifetime that you get to dress up and be a bride (MA/IA), so why not? i had a ton of fun! i did my own makeup for the mayyoun, and my makeup artist did me up for the mehendi and shaadi.

yes i agree- very few ladies can pull off a completely bare face... at the very least most people need to put on some base to even out their skin tone. but then that looks like you're washed out and before you know it, you've got blush, lipstick, eyeliner and mascara on! doh.

Because the make up adds to beauty. The husband to be is progressively worked into this arrangement by the wife to be.

Cant have everything at once man.

I don't think every girl needs makeup on mayo/mehndi coz some of them are naturally very pretty. HOWEVER, I have seen some girls who just can't look good on mehndi without makeup. I think some girls REALLY need makeup to hide uneven skin tone or big nasty pimples....I really don't think they should go bare faced in ANY of the wedding events....It just makes them look worse than they already look!

I got make up professionally done on my dholki and will get it done for my mendhi too. I wouldn't look right without some make up.

I have bad skin and what do you know, i broke out the day before my mehendi adn you can see this one pimple in all three days of the wedding pics. But i wanted to go all traditional so didnt wear makeup at all. THe pics were photoshopped so they dont look that bad. But i remember being so happy on the mehendi day and blushed so much, for me that was enough. Its just personal preference. But i DID go all out for other two days. And trust me having bad skin for as long as i have had, it took a lot of guts to go barefaced but all i remember is the fun, the excitement and the happiness. Alhamdulilah.

i wore makeup less on mehndi but still wore makeup i could not go thru such an important day without makeup. what i cant understand is the ppl that put the duputta over thier entire face on the mehndi day...what up w. that?!?!?

^ Because traditionally the bride and groom did not see each other (and even the groom's side didn't see the bride) until after the Nikkah.

maybe I'm a bit old fashioned but I like the no make up full ghoonghat on the mehndi.. it keeps the tradition alive and it so much easier then having to worry about how u look on ur mehndi.. :D haha

I had ghonghat on when i walked in, sat around while tehy did the dances, singing etc and when my husband walked in, i had ghonghat on again. Ofcourse it didnt really stayed there the whole time for you can see my brother trying to feed me kharbooza (melon) instead of mithai because i dont like melons and will not eat it no matter how much yhou bribed me.

haha! brothers, you gotta love 'em!
mine was determined to feed me as much laddoo (which i absolutely do NOT like) and get as much uptan on my face, as he could at the mayyoun. in the end, i was thisclose to puking from both!

LOL, sgc, i tried to get the family to order the mithai that i like only which is basically rasgullas but htey ordered some other stuff too. So during the mehendi whoever would come to feed mithai, my husband would tell them to give me the rasgullas because he knew i like them best :smiley: I was glad atleast he was on my side :hehe:
