Why Does...

Pakistani food taste better than Indian food?

This past week, I sampled both and I have to say that Pakistani meals had balanced seasoning – not too spicy nor too bland. On the other hand, India food had too much salt, ginger and good knows what else. Spicy yes, flavor, not much!

Re: Why Does...

Indian food? Some food I've eaten from Gujrati-made hands...the spice mixture was so intense...that the food really tasted cheap.

Re: Why Does...

One of the dishes was masoor ki dahl, you know the little black beans. Well, it had so much ginger in it, I could only eat a few spoonfuls. Now, I have had Pakistani masoor ki dahl, and also lentil soup made by non-desis, so much more yummier than the Indian concoction I had the other day.

Re: Why Does…

another indian bashing thread?

Re: Why Does...

Why are you so thin skinned? Why do you take yourself so seriously all the time? Hain ji? :D

Re: Why Does…

no indian bashing :bailan:

Re: Why Does...

I'll allow you to sing their national anthem in this thread. You are a patriot, go ahead. :D

Re: Why Does...

couple of things.

taste is acquired, and once you like something a certain way, its unlikely that you'd like a variant that easily.

secondly, there is no one indian version of masoor daal. gujaratis make theirs sweet, bengalis make theirs sour, UP walas make theirs watery.

Re: Why Does…

Which indians make masoor ki dahl with minced ginger in it, I say a piece of ginger for every friggin lentil bean?

Re: Why Does…

quite right..
hmm I guess it also depends on the cook.. we used to have a cook who used soo much ginger in every item that we used to beg him not to put so much..
may b it was the same cook

Re: Why Does…

LI, Pakistani cuisine is great, but I love South Indian specialities which you can’t get in Pakistan like dosay and idlee :yummy: The best masala dosa I had was in Dubai (closest I could get to South India) I like gujerati food too, love the way it comes in a thali.

But then again, I love all types of food. :frowning:

Re: Why Does…

bootay

I bet there are many others like him and it’s a fairly common thing.

Re: Why Does…

Post pictures of a dosa and idlee. I bet there some thalay wala in Pakistan who’s getting rich on selling improved Pakistani version of dosas and idlees.

Re: Why Does…

You’ve never had a foot long masala dosa? that’s a crime. I know there was a restaurant in Khi specialising in south indian food.

Here you go: masala dosa - Google Search
