Why does Pakistan still support Taliban?

Re: Why does Pakistan still support Taliban?

You suggesting land mines when you refer to mining or mining for gold. I cry foul also at landmines . However it is Pakistan's duty not to allow the Taliban to run over into it's country to hide not afghanistan. Presently ISAF can not fire over into Pakistan, but I say presently. And I stress presently for now

Re: Why does Pakistan still support Taliban?

WHen someone asks you for links for the info which is so easily obtained does it not make your shake your head in exasperation. Since research is not their forte especially when this news regarding Pakistan and Taliban is so easily found on the net reaffirms how they can dispel or contra a point with any clear credibility. So I ask how relevant is their thought (s) based on their research or lack of research abilities.

PS Pakistan and Taliban issue came up even in the early 2006 . Pakistan's Peshwar region is very culpable and very much hiding Taliban supporters and members.

Re: Why does Pakistan still support Taliban?

Errr, yes I meant "land-mine"ing the border.

It is NOT Pakistan's duty alone to stop Taliban/infiltration, its not as if these "Taliban" were born in Pakistan and are now going out to help Afghani Talibans, these people are Afghanis some of whom might have fled during 80s.

ISAF?

Re: Why does Pakistan still support Taliban?

**“The Pakistan government does not wish to see the Taliban in power here,” Lt. Gen. David Richards, the outgoing NATO commander in Kabul, said in an interview recently. “They are determined to bear down on the insurgency. But when they help us, they get no credit for it. No one says thank you.” **

A day earlier, Gen David Richards, head of the International Security Assistance Force (Isaf) in Afghanistan, said that steps taken by Pakistan had helped bring down “the graph of insurgency … compared to last winter”. Isaf troops, he said, were the “beneficiaries” of Pakistan’s policy, which had led to a “reduction in the incidents since autumn”.
