A pluralistic and so called multicultural democracy enjoys and maintains a great relationship with Iran, condemned as a theoracracy in the West. Anyone care to explain this friendship-dare I say alliance of sorts–

Irans relations with Pakistan are not based on how well people like each other.
Generally Iranian have the issue of ego - they think they are better than other people - they doesn't seems discriminate between that

Also they are crazy abt Bollywood movies and actors.

Start with it's neighbours, Pakistan,China,Sri Lanka, Bangladesh have all disliked India to varying degrees over the years.

This kind of disliking is very normal among neighbouring countries, states, provinces, cities, localities & mohallas !!Select groups disliking each other for selective reasons.
But, on a macro scale, its not the case.

If this is true, which I doubt if one takes into consideration most indians are pagan idolaters, then its most probably the result of being a shia country surrounded by sunni countries causing the iranians to try and find friendship wherever they can, even if it be with pagans. If they were honest they would behave more in tune with the likes of nadir shah, a pious sunni muslim who destroyed the filthy temples of hindusthan and went back to his abode with innumerable women and wealth.

Few facts for you.
1-Pakistani men if marry Iranian women get irani nationality.
2-Try to find out who Indian hate more Iran or Pakistan(answer is Iran)
3-India is much more consistent in its foreign policies then Pakistan.
4-Iranian leaders even in their India visits never approve Indian claim at Kashmir.
India and Iran can be best friends but brothers are brothers after all.

Please don't use the word "Hindu" in non respectable way since their is a significant number of Hindu population lives in Pakistan too.
Every Pakistani ought to or have to respect every other Pakistani.

It has something to do with their ego. Iranians think they are some super race. From my experience, some consider Pakistani's & Indian's from the same race, and dislike both. However, majority of the Persians I have known, seem to share better relations with Pakistani's because both are Muslims. But then, a small, yet powerful group from among these is which divides our Muslim relationship on the basis of Shia & Sunni. This is only a minority group. The average Iranian isn't as ignorant as those that appear on TV.
On a side note, here in Toronto, there is a big community of Persians. I have many Persian friends, and I've never had a problem with them.

I have many Irani friends and I have an unleasant truth for you Pakistanis. Iran is quite aware of their 3000 year relationship with India. They are fully aware that even as mighty as a mughal emperor as Aurangzeb was a tributory to Persia. Iran does not consider Pakistan as its equal, it does consider India as one.

Dunno if 3 or even 5000 years history is a factor.
During Shah of Iran, things were different. Both Pakistan and Iran were in American camp, so Iran was closer to Pakistan.
After the revolution, Ayatullahs felt more close to Bharat thanks to Anti-Americanism and Commie connection.
Still the revolution was able to get some grass-roots sympathies from Pakistani people. But the the condition changed when anti-Commie war in Afghanistan got really hot and Wahabi movement became stronger in Pakistan.
From then on, Pakistan has remained ideologically poles apart from Iran.
Bharat also has been impacted in the last 10 years as Bharati leaders have slowly moved their direction to the USA.

… I do not think that Iran give preference to India over Pakistan. In the past, both were pro-USA anti USSR countries having many treaties and cooperation with each other. After Iran revolution, Iran tried their best to keep relationship with Pakistan good regardless of Pakistan (Zia-ul-Haq government) starting to play American and Saudi game of spreading sectarianism amongst Muslims and in Pakistan.
One should remember that Iran helped Pakistan during both 1965 and 1971 war (when none of the Arab countries helped Pakistan). Since long time, and even now, Iran provides electricity to most of western Balochistan (whatever state of the relationship).
What I know, during 1971 war, no Arab countries helped Pakistan and very few countries in the world helped Pakistan. Iran was the country that gave maximum help to Pakistan.
Results of Cooperation were many regional treaties like CENTO (central Treaty organisation between Iran, Pakistan, Turkey, Iraq) and RCD (Regional cooperation and development treaty between Pakistan, Iran, and Turkey). However, after Saddam came to power, Iraq became pro-India.
Whether American and Arab agents like it or not, Pakistan needs Iran more then Iran need Pakistan. Pakistan cannot rely on Arab fuel supplies but can rely on Iran fuel supply. If tomorrow American change their attitude towards Pakistan, Arabs would change their attitude too. Regardless, even if Arabs decide to keep supplying fuel to Pakistan, a strong navy can blockade oil coming to Pakistan by sea.
As for Iranian oil, their supply is not dependent on sea route and thus is secure (as it only has to come across the border). Iran is an independent country too, not like Arab countries that are American colonies (most Arab rulers and many Arabs worship USA as God incarnate).
It seems that China also want to rely on Iran for their secure fuel supply (as Arab countries are not dependable and their fuel needs sea transport too). China wants to use Pakistan as land corridor from Iran to China for their fuel supply. This arrangement would pay Pakistan a lot too. It seems future relationship is going in right direction. With USA and Arabs as unreliable countries for Pakistan, nothing is better for Pakistan then to have good relationship with Iran.
