Right and I think #2 is happending with our friend fayax here.
I guess what I find most ironic is that he's in Houston. One of the great attributes of US is the freedom of opinion in a civilized manner without any threats (be it voilence, or verbal). Us Pakistanis are way way away from that level of enlightment. But I just find it ironic that fayax is living in US, hopefully reaping the benefits of an open and free society, but cant tolerate the same for other people.
When you get civilized...and can talk respectfully...I will have no problem with that.

According to the following table from “A Study of Nutrition”, published by Chung Ch’eng Press of Taiwan, the fat content in pork is the highest among all meats. MEAT PERCENTAGE OF FAT Fat pork 91% Fat beef 35% Lean pork 29% Lean beef 6% If you take two pieces of flesh pork and beef both of the same age and put them in the sun; the pork will rot first and then beef, but if the same meats are cooked, pork will be the last to be cooked. According to medical research, beef requires three hours to be digested but pork needs four hours.

^ my friend fayax, now you force me back into this thread for the last time by posting something relevant. Have you read my first post? My question was that I understand and agree that pork has and will cause illnesses. But what about chicken (avian flu) and cows (mad cow disease), they have also caused deaths. So logic would have it that they will be banned as well.

Properly done zabiha and properly cooked, there is far less danger in other halal animals compared to pork.
Thats the extent of our scientific knowledge that supports the orders in Quran and even in Bible. What the logic behind it is might be a bit higher than the understanding that we can never posses. Hence, at times, when you know that Quran and Hadith have hundreds of commands that better our lifes for us, then following blindly those that we dont exactly understand is not such a wrong thing, and can be respected.
I learn from people. Sometimes my teacher can tell me to do something a certain way when I think that 'my way' is better. But I still follow the teachers way until that time when logic presents itself clearly as to which way is better.

If it's for health reasons, then why not cows (mad cow diseases) or chicken (avian flu)? And meat eating in general is bad for your heart. So why is the focus on pigs?

We are given one reason in the Qur'an why pork was forbidden for us to eat. It is classed in a group of three things which are forbidden.
a) Carrion
b) Blood
c) Swine flesh
Then the verses go on to say "because" they are an abomination (i.e. impure or impious)
Here the act of eating these three is impious and the eating of these three increases the impiety in those people.

There is a very interesting method of proving equations in Geometerical Mathemetics , for example, in geometary questions, we had problems like, in given diagram, Line AB is equal to line CD, prove it. In such problems the solution would start with:
What if Line AB is NOT equal to line CD.
We would start proving above and at last would reach the result , Since AB cannot be equal to CD, hence Line AB is equal to Line CD in given diagram.
Same method can be applied here. Yea Boi your question is valid we accept. Solution is, just like above example,go the other way round and Start eating pork , stop eating cows n birds from today onwards. See what happens. If you survive and never had any problem eating it, you can say that this command was baseless. But if you do not , n get into some serious trouble, then it will be proved that the command was not baseless and u were wrong. Is it not very simple ?

YB - Apart from the reasons that a pig is a dust bin (consuming anything and everything), it is infested with diseases, I'm not sure why pork is haraam...but what I do know is that it's very difficult to rationalise everything.
No doubt, it's good to find the wisdom as to why Allah has prohibited and allowed certain things. It's also very good to explain these wisdoms, but at the end of the day, you won't be able to rationalise everything, and one thing you have to realise is that you do things because Allah said so. Maybe it is our test, so we put our trust in Him, and we submit to Him before anything. :)

Pork is haraam because the pig is a dirty, impious, unhygenic, immoral animal, that carries many diseases and negatives, that would be passed onto the eater.
Not only the physcial, but as in islam we also know that our character also becomes like what we eat.

I am not debating whether it's right or wrong to eat pork. I'm just asking that given the logic of declaring pork haraam since it's bad for our health, the same argument can be made for chicken and beef. Then howcome; they have not been declared haraam?
To this point, after almost 100 replies, someone has actually yet to respond to my actual question other than going on a rant themselves. So it's useless for me to even participate in this thread further; if we cannot discuss the question at hand.
