Why is it such a big deal?
So how many people think it looks bad?
I totally get it when you go against colors that are NOT flattering (like me wearing bright violet colors or something) so that’s not my question.
Do you think people that wear contacts that are even slightly tinted are committing some sort of hypocritical crime? Like they’re not being true to themselves?

Don't think so - some people ( incl. me) wear lenses just ot enhance our natural color / look. We girls put on makeup to enhance our looks right? SO why not colored contacts?

its kind of not good for those girls not admiring their natural looks and loving artificial look 
more (usually girls also lie to others that those are their natural eye colors)
But for girls admiring their own natural eye color and wearing contact lenses just for a change is ok
Personally i love my eye color and prefer to keep my self with my natural looks

I've yet to see someone who looks classy with colored lenses. I don't think they're committing a hypocritical crime or anything, just not my personal taste.

I think colored contacts only mean light blue, purple and red to some guppans
here, no body has ever questioned me if they are real …

Yeah, she is 90% plastic and photoshopped but have to admit her lenses look good in candids and those are her signature look :D
I love the dark skin pale eyes look a lot of Persian girls do..
There are a few other celebs who wear contacts which everyone assumes are real but my mind has gone blank right now..

My fiancee wears them to parties sometimes, and I admire her real eyes rather than contacts but I have to agree with sweetquation, if your comfortable with your own skin and wear it once in a while its fine, but if you wear it to justify that you might look better, than your wrong, you'll look fake and in some cases worse. If you're confident in your own skin, your unstoppable.

What about those who dye their hair? And wear make-up to enhance their beauty? Or get a nose-job? Or wear hair extensions or wigs? Or wear nail-vanish? Or worse...wear high-heels to create height???????? Are they not being true to themselves???
I personally think there is nothing wrong with wearing coloured contacts. Its totally up to the individual what they want to do and what makes them comfortable. We should be happy for them. (Even though I have natural light eyes I absolutely love wearing blue contacts just for fun and they look so real! Lol.)

I've always wanted to get colored contacts and i've heard the tri colored ones look the most natural. My hair is medium brown and i want hazel/green ones. But i've never worn any and have no clue about what brand/type is good. any recommendations?

I think it's totally fine.
It's fun to try all the diff eye colors.
And I don't wear contacts all the time.
I only get them 3-4 times a year.
I always wear glasses so sometimes i get bored of em, therefore i just get colored contacts.
and I've tried so many diff colors and the ppl who don't know me they always think it's my real eyes but i tell them it's not
and that I'm wearing contacts. I love my own eye color but I also like to sometimes try out other colors.
I don't wear natural looking contacts cuz I don't want people to think "oh those her real eyes". I usually wear the bold ones
But if some that look scary I don't re-purchase.
It depends on the age as well. some usually just grow out of it.
I know many people who loved colored contacts when they wear young and eventually just grew out of it.
And even if someone didn't like their own eye color and wore contacts to hide their real color, I don't think it's any different than
wearing make up, wearing nail polish, wearing heels, getting a nose job..... etc. whatever it maybe, all of it is to hide the things we
dislike about ourselves and replace it with what we feel confident in.
Something you maybe think is fine but could be a insecurity for someone else about them self.
It really pisses me off when people say **** like this
like I'm sorry but people should really keep their rude comments to themselves.

I don't see the big deal about wearing colored contacts...if they're done right they can look so pretty especially on desi skin tone.

The problem is they're rarely rarely rarely ever done right and desi girls love to delude themselves into thinking they look good in 'em. And no, I don't admire Claudia Lynx's eyes. They look horrid. If a desi girl must wear coloured contacts, they should stick to light brown—not blue, green or whatever other colour she thinks 'enhances' her appearance. I don't care if you're being true to yourself or not, as long as you can pull it off.

I think in Pakistan it is SO common to be wearing coloured that you can’t even tell whose eyes are real. And they find it WEIRD if someone is wearing clear contacts or even glasses outside .
In the west, it is very rare. Because gori girls have beautiful coloured eyes to begin with. 
So in the culture here, people do find it weird when the person is consistently wearing them. And i have seen girls getting compliments for their eyes and they hesitate to tell that they aren’t their real eyes.
