Why do we need a madhab?

Essentially a** firqa is a major difference in belief and a madhab is set of differences in practice.**

For example although Salafis are unlike Sunnis in practice they are far closer than Ahmadis to Sunnis in belief. On the other hand Ahmadis may even follow the madhab of Imam Abu Hanifah, but because their beliefs differ they are hence called a firqa.

It is important that farq should be assessed by what people say about themselves not about what others say about them.

And the major or minor differences are based on?

I mean who made the differences be minor or major based on what?

What may be major for one might be minor to other…right?

WE made the differences based on what our made up leaders or imams AFTER the prophet SAW came and then made firqah, madhab and groups.

OK, if one is still adamant on making these differentiations, let them be..

But the problem comes when one is adamant about following one imam or school of thought and closes her or his mind to ANY other idea and not be proactive to search if something else is there that might be true or better.

Hence, I still submit with being humble, that ANYONE should be open to other person’s idea and not be so egocentric to just stick to one when it comes to beliefs or religion!

Obviously very core of religion is not what I am tsalking about..the one which are laid down by quran or repeatedly and consistently reported hadiths which do not contradict either to each other or to the Quran.
