I've actually asked myself that question many a time for many years. After all this I conclude that we have children because we want to have something solid to show for the bond of love that binds one and one's partner. We also want someone to nurture and have a place in this world after us.
Also we need someone in our old age, usually, who would bother with the elderly if not their own children?

These are my thoughts on it....just copying/pasting from where i had shared them before :).
Because we want a part of us to live on even after we are gone.......
there are so many reasons.
to keep this world going on...
to experience the most wonderful, selfless love and bond there can be.

Question kafi interesting hai waisey because sochney wali baat hai. There is no one, concrete answer for this. I can list 100 more reasons but alll easons are emotionally connected except ofcourse the fact that the world need people to go on.
I think there is one another very imp reason..dont know how many of you think the same or not. But i think a child often makes the couple's bond strong(er). It often becomes the reason for the couple to give their best to the relationship. Especially at this time where people are becoming very less tolerant of each other a child often provides them... a reason to try harder.
Ofcourse many a times the child can also become the reason for a parents suffering or staying in a unhappy relationship. So yah its weird, complicated.

Cz the pill was getting too expensive. Seriously. I know of 2 pregnancies (separately) that resulted b/c they forgot to buy their monthly bc cz it was too expensive.
jokes aside.. i dont think many ppl actually THINK about why to have kids.. most of the time its a surprise (a good one), or its just what's expected of them.

Agree with you completely… just spending every special moment of my life with my kid simply enchants me.. what there’s not to love about.. from taking them to School to mosques, to those carnivals.. giving them a bubble bath… letting them sleep on your chest.. taking them to mall.. from eating ice cream to bake cookies with them… going on trips.. etc etc.. It’s the whole new universe once you become a parent and personally, I wuldn’t miss it for the world.

Coz birth contol fails.
Okay, coz i love kids, i used to be the favourite uncle of all my cousins kids and couls play with them for hours, so much so that my cousins even left their kids with me while going for shopping, so u can understand how much i wanted kids, no wonder, we got our first one 10 months after marriage.

you know its strange,i was asking myself the very same question today.i have 2 very beautiful kids and i love them to death but i have no clear idea why we had them.i think we had kids because it was expected of us.secondly,as pakistanis,we always had seen families with kids around us and there is this curiosity about them.how to raise them etc.and there is also this feeling to have your own flesh and blood in front of your eyes,in your arms.
because life is incomplete without them...
babies truly are a bundle of joy and life would be so boring without them...

society, old-age pension, community volunteers, senior homes, humanity, etc.
Because your pension fund might not do too well and you need a backup plan.
