Come to think of it, I've got an experience to share.
One of our family friends had married this pathan girl who lives in our city (how they heard of her from across the country, I do not know). Now this girl looked like that bollywood heroine..mamta kulkarni (?)...absolutely gorgeous.
So she gets married, moves away, and then a year or two later she and her husband shift back here. We did a dawat for her, and she arrived and guess what??
yep, she had gained a LOT of weight. It was really sad actually. She's still pretty, because she just has those features that still look sweet with plumpy cheeks.
My mother sees her and actually asks if she is pregnant!!! The girl calmly told her no. I guess she gets it all the time.
The interesting part is that after desert, her husband didn't want the rest of his desert, so he gave it to her with "yeh lo jaani".
I'm like :o
All I could sit there and think was "Your wife is dangerously teetering on the edge of athersclerosis and here you are giving her more gulam jamun!"
So, a little while later I asked her if he normally does that. She said he's picky with his food, and she often eats up his leftovers, because he'll leave a lot in his plate, and food shouldn't go to waste.
What a nalaaik husband!
