From what I understand, Muslims consider a sunnat to grow a beard because thats what Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) did. But he did not grow a mustache and kept his beard trimmed.

Now why are Pakistanis and other Desis doing the opposite?

Not growing a beard but having a Mustache?

As i understand it Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) trimmed his mustache but it wasn’t clean shaven.

Its more of a pakistani culture thing. Up until the early 20th centuary mustache was quite popular in Europe as well but nowadays u hardly see any gora with it. Back then it would’ve been considered cool and most ppl expressing their disgust might’ve kept it as well. Its a case of go with the flow i guess.

I have a mustache and the reason i have it is caz i like it. If others dont like it, they can go the way they want. When i came to the west, i was just beginning to get a mustache so i could’ve gone clean shaven if i wanted to, but i like it better than clean shave so i kept it.

I’m gonna keep a beard too, once i get a full beard. Not the mulla style but a trimmed short one.
