You’d think it wasn’t apparent in the US, but it is. You can feel the friction between both types of people at our mosque. The Karachi women say the Lahoris are uneducated while the Lahori women say the Karachi women are snobby rich jerks.
No bashing-I just want to know why they’re like that, considering I’ve never lived in Pakistan.

class difference mostly. I see this here in KSA a lot. My mom's like that, you know, prejudiced. But a lot of her stereotypes are confirmed over and over again by some ****ty people. So she can keep generalizing.
I think there is a definite difference in the culture of the two cities, I sometimes hate the tackiness and classlessness of some Lahoris, I find even high society guys can be paindu in Lahore. I love the festiveness and food that is Lahore though.
But Karachites are mostly urbane and clever. They can be too cunning and ambitious and try to put you down sometimes, but most are polite.
I feel sad for Karachi being in such bad shape that it is, its a beautiful city and people should feel safe there.

I was born in Lahore and raised in Karachi , so I cannot be prejudiced against people from any of these cities.
The masjid I go to was built by and and is run by people from Pakistan , all Pakistani have very cordial relationship here , I do not find any air of any kind of prejudice in anybody's behavior.

BTW, Pakistanis in general love to generalise, you can hea a lot of things about how Sialkotis are or how Gujratis are etc etc but that doesnt mean they hate each other.

I went to school in Saudi, so there were both Karachiites and Lahoris in my class. We made fun of their accent, they made fun of our paindu/punjabi pronunciation of certain urdu words. It was all in good fun though as some of my best friends were from Karachi. Having said that, there are a few traits unique to Karachiites (in my experience) that I'm not too fond of, like talking really fast, an element of boastfulness and know-it-all, calling ghaas ghans etc. I'm sure we have our traits too.
