Why do Pakistani people speak English mixed with Urdu so much?

Re: Why do Pakistani people speak English mixed with Urdu so much?

Sorry Reha, I am not that ancient so I wouldn't know what are you saying. ;)

Anyhow: I never said, Pakistanis should not learn Angreji. If they want they can learn any language, but why speak or write English so much they forget their own language..... be it Urdu or their parental language.

Can one imagine Germans, Japanese, Italians or French or any large part of the non-English speaking world ....speaking English **on daily basis **or their politicians making speeches in English as much as Pakistanis do? Certainly not.

"Hum Ka, Tum Ka" Language is so becoming common in Paistan now a days.

And:
I never said, womans are nothing without mans either.

We can discuss unrelated topics again outside this thread later. :)

Re: Why do Pakistani people speak English mixed with Urdu so much?

It’s okay Nehru types won’t get it. But I think you should see the wisdom in my words considering you believe in a strong Muslim Pakistan. The fact that you can’t see it is very disturbing. If I were to issue a fatwa it would be a Muslim is a Muslim regardless what language he or she speaks. Just like a Pakistani is a Pakistani regardless what language he speaks.

So says mufti CM.

Re: Why do Pakistani people speak English mixed with Urdu so much?

This is insanely off topic. People have already told you why the ability to speak English is considered important. Just because you wish Urdu was revered the same way will not make it so. People who speak Urdu have to be leaders in the world first.

As for dressing a certain way, while the modern suit may have been influenced heavily by the British, the basis of it was laid down by Turks. Europeans, prior to adopting it from the Turks, wore the Medieval garb most of us are familiar with.

Re: Why do Pakistani people speak English mixed with Urdu so much?

Like it or not, Urdish is also rapidly growing like its Chinglish and Hinglish counterparts.

This thread inspired me to check some of yesterday’s workplace recordings to see how I am doing in this regard and found myself saying things like,

“naya he behtar hay, used ko at any cost avoid karna chahiay par practically kitnay log naya afford kar saktay hain?”

virtualization ki one line definition.. hmm.. sochnay deo men’on, bolay to, let me think.”

“ek aadha piece chahiay to mil jae ga lekin agar** quantity** ki bat hay to ajkal** short** hay market say.”

“**used **aath hazaar say shro hokar oopar ap ki marzi hay jahan tak lay ja ain, new k liay kam say kam thirty ka budget rakhiay.”

and…

Regular back-up lenay main kia maut aati hay.. **what the what **yar.”

Yes, the ‘Words Salad’ is so annoying to hear.

Just for fun here:

Re: Why do Pakistani people speak English mixed with Urdu so much?

This disease of speaking English when not even necessary or needed affects so many Pakistanis.

Re: Why do Pakistani people speak English mixed with Urdu so much?

Necessary or needed is up to each person. Just like you don’t need to write urdu in roman English script likd you do at times diwana.

Re: Why do Pakistani people speak English mixed with Urdu so much?

Bhai sahab, don’t take it personal. There is something to think about here.

Anyone with even little intelligence can see when Pakistanis are using English with no real reason or wears clothes which do not need to be worn.

Ever seen those who go to parties in hot summer days wearing three piece suit or even a bow tie like restaurant waiters?

Chalay Aa rahe Hain, Chilchilaati dhoop mein…:smack:

Re: Why do Pakistani people speak English mixed with Urdu so much?

I have been waiting for the release of this shahkar for almost three decades. Seems that they are not trying wholeheartedly. :disgust:

Re: Why do Pakistani people speak English mixed with Urdu so much?

It’s hilarious. :biggthumb:

Re: Why do Pakistani people speak English mixed with Urdu so much?

Now you want pakistanis to walk around naked? First no English and no clothes.

Re: Why do Pakistani people speak English mixed with Urdu so much?

Diwanay ko har cheez se masla hai…

Koi English bolay to masla
Koi akela rahay to masla
Shadi shuda aurat ke huqooq se masla
Koi suit pehnay to masla
Aurat ki (jhooti hi sahi) izzat karne mein bhi masla

Kaunsi nayi baat hai?

Re: Why do Pakistani people speak English mixed with Urdu so much?

If he were , we wouldnt have his long long posts

Re: Why do Pakistani people speak English mixed with Urdu so much?

Why don’t we all use Hindi ?

lol! True and funny

Re: Why do Pakistani people speak English mixed with Urdu so much?

Another funny example of slave mentality…

I have met people who born and bread in Pakistan feel ashamed of speaking their own parental language or even Pakistani NATIONAL language Urdu.

And I am like:

Theek Hai Bhai jan,

Lekin yeh bataayie, Yahaan Sab Urdu Boltay hain and aur bol rahay hain.

Aap Ko takleef hai Kia Urdu Bolnay Mein? :smack:

Re: Why do Pakistani people speak English mixed with Urdu so much?

And I know a long time you wrote Urdu is your Ghar Ki Loundi.

Re: Why do Pakistani people speak English mixed with Urdu so much?

So Pakistanis have only two choices?

Either wear tie suit or walk around naked?
