No, I don’t switch to Urdu when speaking to a non-desi colleague of mine. But I do switch between the two when I am speaking to my sisters or people who CAN understand both.

Hmm. If only people used it like you do. Somehow, back home, English is thought of as something you show off. Is that a bad thing? I don’t know. People flaunt all kinds of stuff and I don’t see any threads against fancy cars or gigantic houses.

So speaking English - which is a universal language by the way - means people in Pakistan are slaves to white people?

The expectation is IF you speak English, it should be good English. Otherwise don’t speak it, right?

How does one learn a language if they don’t speak it?

You can learn a language by reading and writing it, just like we do back home. But you’ll have to speak it at some point if you wanna learn how to carry conversations in that language.
