Re: Why do Pakistan women dress like Arabs in America?
C'mon man, are you serious. What the prophet wore had nothing to do with Islam yaar. It was the dress of the region. People wore that dress for thousands of years...
I'm sure if the Prophet was born in China he would probably wear silk shirts (something very common in traditional chinese male/female dresses). I'm not saying that the sunnat is unimportant. I'm just saying...use your brain. Get with the times. If something is irrelevant (like riding your camel to work when there are highways and cars) then don't do it!
p.s. most women were not whores before islam. Women wore that same conservative dress in the region. You are way off with that super offensive comment bhai sahab. Do you have any documented source for this ridiculous claim? You are essentially saying, that the prophets grandmother and mother and every female before islam in arab was like that...
Finally, Somebody who thinks like me..............I have been trying to bring out this point since te day i have joined GS but nobody wants to go against the mullah philosophy!

Because many of them want to be like Arabs and will do anything to lick the boots of their Wahhabi Arab masters.
Re: Why do Pakistan women dress like Arabs in America?
Jaisa desh waisa Vesh..........but how does not wearing or wearing a hijab make a person better or worse....confused !
She means she views them as being better than her for other reasons that are totally independent of the fact wheather they wear scarf. Anything else :)

I don't know how true does it hold for those arab women but we have figurines from the period that show naked breasts. I don't if that means that the makers of them were emphasizing fertility or women ran around naked or both. If any of you guys have taken an art history class, then you will know what I am talking about.
Even today in africa, there is a triba that has bare breasted women yet it is considered abnormal for them to be NOT covered below their navels.. :D
Re: Why do Pakistan women dress like Arabs in America?
Those figurines are naked, then they are just figurines. They did not represent the literal arab society around them. You are making it sound like the arabic region was a giant orgy before islam. Its certainly not true for arabia.
You are right about that african thing. Its in many different cultures in south pacific and different tribes in africa.
Re: Why do Pakistan women dress like Arabs in America?
Its only in your head.
PS: If men and women are following the sunnah of Prophets of Allah and pious women(like growing beard and wearing hijab) then they should be glad about it.
Another sunnah would be to have more than one wife; why do pakistani ladies start the drama acts at even a suggestion by there husbands for a second wife?
Its all a big JOKE! Picking and choosing which sunnah to follow doesn't, logically, give one full sawab.
Re: Why do Pakistan women dress like Arabs in America?
This is an interesting topic. Pakistani people (specially men in west), when they see a woman from islamic country (like iran, lebenon etc) wearing jeans, complain that how they ignoring their culture n religion. One thing they forget that except for pakistani women, women from other islamic countries have only two options when it comes to style of dress. They can wear western dress because that is common in west, or wear dress from their own country. Problem with the second option is, that their own cultural dress is usually fully clad burqa-like stuff covering head and face. That will not help here, so they have to adopt. Lucky for pakistani women, they have a middle ground, which is indian dress like shalwar qameez. Muslim women from other countries do not have this option. You can't expect them to wear shalwar kameez, a dress that are not much familar with.
Shalwar Kameez is not just Indian you dipstick. Maybe it is both Paki and Indian but it originated in Central-Asia. Foreign Muslims introduced sewn clothing to South-Asia, before that South-Asians wore unsewn Saaris and Dhotis.
The bit about all Arab women wearing Burqas in their home countries is BS, Burqa is just an outer clothing like a coat or a jacket, Arab women wear other dresses at home.
Re: Why do Pakistan women dress like Arabs in America?
As said before: maulana dari and (stinky) abayas will not enter one into jannat.
Listen to the tilawat folks: Allah has repeatedly said bring iman and do naik amaal! Unfortunately the uneducated ones believe that a abaya, niqaab, maulana dari, means we're good muslims. HAH!
Re: Why do Pakistan women dress like Arabs in America?
Islam is like a mosaic of different things, you can’t reject some of the tiles and keep the others.
For some daarri and covering up is a part of their religion, maybe they shouldn’t be so ethnic in the way they dress because that attracts more attention and defeats the purpose…
..But I think it’s more proper for a Muslim girl to try and copy Lady Faaitmah in her dress rather than some cheap ex-model Inaara woman.
