One of our family friends is a young sunni Pakistani who just joined the Canadian army, and knows he is likely to be deployed to Afghanistan to fight against the Taliban.

His wife apparently was a major influence in that. She is an Afghan Shia, who had family that were persecuted and even killed by the Taliban when they took over Mazar-i-Sharif, and wants her husband to play a role in preventing them from returning to power and repeatign their earlier performance.

First off I dont support any kind of war, and if there is a war its usually between countries, and loyalty to your country comes first. ok so alot has been said about where we live and therefore where our allegiance should be. i wouldn't go against islam because islam is my salvation for eternity (inshallah). i believe, so i am expecting judgement. i wouldnt want to stand for judgement knowing that i went against the muslims with my mind, body or soul.

yes, in the past pakistanis have ventured outwards for financial gain but the world was a different place then. the people were not signing off their religion, just signing a contract of employment, to enable them to help their famillies in pakistan.

but in all circumstances muslims are NOT allowed to join non believing armies against muslims
