is the same not done for security in other countries? and was the same not done for other presidents/prime ministers of Pakistan.
W was in chitown and I saw roadblocks myself. other vehicles used other routes just like they would if the road blocked was closed for repairs. Oh yeah ambulanes and fire trucks too..

what is your question? that whether it is a good thing that presidents and prime minsters for every country around the world have security details? and in the case of some even ex-presidents or prime minsters?
no its not a good thing, I wish that there were no psychos around who would be hellbent on pursuing their agendas through terrorism and by attempting to kill leaders, but that is the case. Having dealt with the assassination fo my own uncle, a former caretaker governer in Pakistan, I have strong feelings about protecting the leaders of a country, regardless of whether or not you agree or disagree with their personality or stance.

protecting your leaders is fine pir saab but having three blocks closed down for a personal visit is not
besides I would rather have the people of pakistan living their normal lives and not die in their ambulances because the president wants to have a joy ride

And what makes you think that we dont have measures like these in place in US? As I noted, W was in town just recently and roads were closed off, and traffic diverted.

only 3 damn blocks? aray..khoda paharr aur nikla chooha…3 blocks? I mean we close more than that just for the taste of chicago festival alone, let alone some govt official visiting.

^ errr..when traffic is diverted from route 1 to route 2, then it basically means that route 1 is blocked, does it not.
and as far is "it not being right" .. thats a whole diff can of worms, fact of the matter is that all world leaders (maybe there are exceptions) have some security detail, and in most cases the security arrangements create some difficulty for the average joe, but the security is there for a reason.
I mean what is next, you will complain that they have security at airports and it is an annoyance because it takes longer to get to the plane?
as far as my replay to khatmal, he came up with 3 blocks, not me :) incidentally there is about a 2 mile length construction project on a road close to my place...its down to one lane, even for emergency vehicles...what a shame innit

Here in New York,..when President george Bush comes then whole Manhattan is blocked,..so many avenues and roads closed....It happens everywhere,...but If we have different agenda behind this post is then,...we can discuss it. I don't even see any big problem here.

Being Heads of State and State of Government certainly their security is very important and they must be looked after.
Having said that, those not living in karachi can not imagine how the city is blocked and sharefaisal becomes LOC between the city.
few days back i wanted to enter a turning so that i can go to my home and the police officals didnt let me in. I had to go 2 kms and alhamdollilah very luckily some how or the other i manged to get it. otherwise i may have ended some where near seaviews that day.
