And stop generalizing. There might be a complete different side of the picture for some of the gorgeous women who got married to ugly, koja desi guys. Reasons they might not want to share with other ppl. Not everything is crystal clear black or white you know.

I think the OP is using a hyperbole when he says refers to 'gorgeous women getting married to ugly men'
I dont know why people are taking it too literally.
The phonomenon he is alluding to is all too common in our local marriage marketplace - women getting married to men lesser than them in physical attractiveness. .... more importantly, to men they wouldnt have considered for dating and sex. the significance of the latter point is extremely undermined.

This is often said of Asian, Middle-Eastern and American people. there is no ethnicity where the men are considered to be more attractive. Italian and Greek men come to mind, but their women are considered no less.
This is a difficult debate. Could it be that women are naturally more aesthetically pleasing than men ?
OR Is it because Women have more things to work with and enhance their aesthetics.. makeup, hair etc and men (desi men in particular) are less concerned about enhancing themselves ?
your opinion/claim is quite questionable bcos of its context. Its in response to the OP's claim that desi women marry less attractive men.
Let me summarize your argument...

there are very few goodlooking desi men
hence desi women have no choice but to marry less attractive men.

If thats what you think then Im afraid you havent been to a college/university campus in pakistan. Most couples who are dating, having relationships are quite comparable in looks. Infact i have seen more couples where the guy can be considered better looking than his gf.
So tell me, why does this drought of attractive desi men only occur in the (arranged) marriage marketplace ?

Because when it comes to Rishta process, a girl's parents look for a guy with good family, education and financial security. Looks are not their priority. Whereas the guy's side is looking for pretty baho rani.
Let me add one more thing, I know couple of girls who have rejected Rishtas based on looks of guys and they are still unmarried and a source of constant worry for their parents. I am talking about in Pakistan, where like it or not parents of a mature unmarried girl do get extremely worried for the future of their daughters.

The gender and physical attractiveness conundrum has always fascinated me. I personally dont believe how/why nature would make one gender less aesthetically appealing in an objective sense. It might have a lot to do with how we define attractiveness for males and females. could it be that male attractiveness has a more narrow definition, one that allows fewer men to meet the criteria? but then i cannot challenge what you have seen and felt.

The reason for gorgeous ladies marrying average/ ugly/ aged/ married, separated, divorced guys might be $$$.
Another generalisation: Gorgeous desi guys ALSO end up marrying average girls. Reason: Unavailability of gorgeous ladies since they end up marrying richer guys :p

I do believe that is the reason uzair. Then again, guess males dont really need to be attractive since regardless of that they can hook pretty girls. Guys are more visual I believe, hence attractiveness of the female gender has enhanced. Girls on the other hand are attracted on an emotional level/monetary level etc etc
