…desi women (a rarity, let me add) end up marrying ugly guys? Normally they wouldn’t let such a guy within 10 feet of themselves, but when it comes to marriage they will go for any moving object with a fat wallet. Double standards?

Oh and there's another reason. When they stand beside their ugggllaaaay husbands, it'll make them (the gorgeous one) appear even more good looking. So, this disparity enhances their looks. AND...it does wonders for the perceptions of their character. Society will think that gorgeous girl has such a big, benevolent heart for marrying ugly man (almost as big as his wallet). Poor gorgeous girls, they get tired of being stereotyped as all beauty but no substance. Give em the benefit of the doubt sometimes, Goombay.

And stop generalizing. There might be a complete different side of the picture for some of the gorgeous women who got married to ugly, koja desi guys. Reasons they might not want to share with other ppl. Not everything is crystal clear black or white you know.

ok let me add something more. Guys have issues. Even when they are average looking ,they think they are the best thing on earth. They cant get over their own beauty to notice any girls beauty. So that cud be another reason why pretty girls end up with ugly guys. The ugly guys noticed them while pretty ones were busy complimenting themselves in the mirror*sigh*

It's the same reason MANY desi guys date non-desi girls....or girls who they even consider slut*ty......but when it comes to marriage, they choose a desi girl who's approved by their mommy and who is not a slut (as far as they know). With MANY desi guys....there is a type of girl they date...and a type of girl they marry.
Same logic applies to girls. MANY "gorgeous" girls date guys who're hot and "fun". But when it comes time to sign the nikah papers....they want someone who's capable of providing them(and their children) a comfortable and stable life. And yes, that sometimes means marrying a guy who has a nice personality, great education, and a great income...but who might be considered "ugly" by others. Besides, guys who're considered "ugly" also don't have an ego issue b/c of their looks (usually).

Maybe another reason they settle down with less ugly guys because they think that they're less likely to cheat...where they're more attractive counterparts will receive more attention from when...thus increasing the chances of straying. I remember this one woman (Arab) told me that she had offers from attractive guys but turned them down for this very reason and chose to marry someone less attractive as she thought he'd be more faithful.
