I agree with Catskin and Le Pakistan on this.

It’s not just ABCD’s (girls or boys) who get to hear silly generalizations about themselves. The desis from back home have to listen alot of silly things from ABCD’s too. Just because you don’t know what they go through doesn’t mean it’s all flowers and rainbows for them. Although I agree that it’s silly to stereotype ABCD’s and desis negatively but some people are just shallow and being judgmental is what they’re really good at.

And just to add I once had a ABCD ask me if I had already started collecting my dowry. When I said no I haven’t and why would you say that because I’m not even committed yet and I don’t even plan to ‘collect’ my dowry. She had the guts to say, “well you know, that’s what you all do. You lot are a little obsessed with marriage.”. I just smiled back.

I know I am.
