Do unto others as you would have them do to you. If you don't want any negative threads about Pakistanis living abroad, also get rid of the tens of threads on the millions of things wrong with desis, especially men, back home.

I have said negative things but I've also said that there's nothing wrong with marrying back home IF the girl or guy wants to, I support love marriages AND arranged (depending on the person and the situation) and so on.. The same people who complain about being bashed cos they're from Pakistan literally won't say ANYTHING positive about us ABCD girls. It's a LOT more black + white with some of them and they're defensive to the point of it becoming ridiculous..
I remember a thread in All Views last yr about the London riots and NONE of us denied the negative things and problems we have.. Last week one of the major headlines in the UK was about TWO lots of Pakistani sex gangs in Rochdale yet there doesn't even seem to be a thread about it on GS whilst we have post after post about us ABCD girls, how difficult we are etc. When was the last time you heard about any UK born and bred Pakistani girl drug dealing or doing anything as remotely serious yet the general feeling is that WE have to improve our behaviour.. I don't mind people pointing out my flaws but at the same time perhaps those doing it should take a look in the mirror and admit to theirs..

So you want to discuss every crime/negativity done by Pakistanis? Those guys who did that are the biggest peeps and the scum of this earth. They should be hang upside down and be kicked and beaten every second. That is what they deserve.

Also, I dont agree that girls do any less clubbing than guys... thats a false notion too.
A lot of the girls i know have a similar lifestyle to their male counterparts here.

Over here in Pakistan we like our girls to be complying and obedient. When a girl is not that and everything people start criticizing her no matter where she is from. Then there are the cultural diffenrences, what might be considered modest in one place might be deemed outrageous in some other place. The problem is when people refuse to assimilate. When you go to a new palce, you have to compromise a bit.

I agree with Catskin and Le Pakistan on this.
It's not just ABCD's (girls or boys) who get to hear silly generalizations about themselves. The desis from back home have to listen alot of silly things from ABCD's too. Just because you don't know what they go through doesn't mean it's all flowers and rainbows for them. Although I agree that it's silly to stereotype ABCD's and desis negatively but some people are just shallow and being judgmental is what they're really good at.
And just to add I once had a ABCD ask me if I had already started collecting my dowry. When I said no I haven't and why would you say that because I'm not even committed yet and I don't even plan to 'collect' my dowry. She had the guts to say, "well you know, that's what you all do. You lot are a little obsessed with marriage.". I just smiled back.

and on main topic, we live in a itchy society. We are inclined to pass our judgement on people on their appearance and not who they are. Heck we label girls/guys as good or bad on the basis of presence or absence of tattoo and what not.
