The Torah is considered a vital part of the Bible, (The Old Testament) and unlike the Quran which runs down the teachings of the Bible to replace them with "new" or "refurbished" ones, the Torah is the foundation of Christianity. Christians resent the implication that the Word of God is like a lottery ticket that has an expiry date, and has to be replaced with the passage of time, to accomodate a different group of people. We believe God himself is the author of it. His message encompases all people of all time and He is the one to consequently preserve its contents. That’s what makes it so unique from other written works.

why dont christians follow the jewish dietary laws then? Or did those commands have an expiration date?
and thus from teh same perspective, Jesus peace be upon him, did not cancel out any of the statements in torah regarding smite this and smite that, so why do people claim that his teachings were only peaceful, i gues she just diod not reiterate the punishments (including stonings) or killing of the non believers.
so..either his message was not just love as people claim, but also incorporated punishemnt, and war and all thats in Torah. or you assertion that he voided the previous text is incorrect.
Huh??.... What are you saying here? If Muslims followed Christianity, would they not have been Christians ??
Albeit, at no point in time did/does/or ever will, Christianity void the Torah. I think you should get your facts straight. Listen to what Christ himself has to say about this matter. The Fulfillment of the Law
Matthew 5:17-20
17 "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18 I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, **not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, **will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. 19 Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20 For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.
We can debate until kingdom come regarding the Deuteronomy verse, but lets leave that for another day.

I have always thought this referred to the 10 commandments.
Surely God would not deny a child his kingdom because his child was hungry and ate pork?
Because it is easier to teach uncivilized folk in absolutes. If you tried that in china during that time or in Hellenic greece, then you would have been laughed out of the city.
