I think there are many reasons why Desi population prefers Sons over Daughters, for example;

We can open tight jars.

Three pair of shoes and two pair of jeans are more than enough.

We can Halal our own food.

If someone forgets to call or invite us, we are still friends with them.

If we are over 30 and single, nobody notices. Infact those gray hair add to our distinguished character.

We can loose weight without a support group.

Empowerment of women in any society has one big side effect: men become effiminate morons (see XBOX playing, basement dwelling awkward pasty nerds who would rather settle for inflatable dummies than real life women).

So, men are backed into a corner in a society (where women's votes matter) that perpetuates the following stereotypes: man should want sex, if he doesn’t, he is gay. If he is too attached to his mother, implying he is turning down sex from his wife to choose his mother's side, then he must be gay. This stereotype is a very effective tool by means of which women control men.

Some prevailing themes that dominate the airwaves today: Everybody loves Raymond – smart wife, dumb husband; wife can control him through sex; The mother is always portrayed as Shylock in all these shows and wife as a saint. King of queens – smart wife, dumb husband; sex controls the men. That 70’s show – ditto According to Jim- ditto

So, until men can control their sexual urges (this is important) in a society that preaches equality and allow women to vote, the results will always eventually lead to more power to women than men. We are already seeing the trends.

So, I am not surprised that in Canada or other western societies, daughters are taking care of their parents, and not sons. Sons = emasculated morons who are manipulated by these empowered modern age wives who withhold sex or threaten divorce at the drop of a hat.

The arabs are clever. They dont let their women vote. They know that women's suffrage = pussy supreme court which passes no-fault divorce laws and destroys marriage.

if u look at it at the very root level, they somehow believe (you can't blame a person for what they believe in) that sons are a bigger asset, the girls will get married neway and move on, the sons will stick for life, ofcourse they get proven wrong in very many cases, perceptions and perspectives change with experiences, education and living. times are a changing, its slow but its happening.

Despite the fact that almost everyone agrees that when parents are old its the daughters that take care of them and not the sons. I have seen hundreds of old people in hospitals that are left and no one cares bout them. There are bout 10% aho are taken care of, and of these 10% , 95% the caregiver is a daughter. So this idea that sons will help when one is old, does not hold true and everyone knows that.

So why then prefer son?

I feel that the reason is that parents are afraid of the future of their daughters, i mean the uncertainty of giving up their own flesh and blood to someone else and not knowing how will others treat them.

daughter is daughter tell she has life
son is son till he gets a wife.
but still we desi prefer sons???

partly becoz of the societal pressures....
A girl is born..ppl look forward for the next one to be a boy..its better luck next time
A boy is born..its..alright lets see what we have next

it variies from person to person
but it depends on over all being educated and being religiously aware and family background as well..besides islam doesnt discriminate between boy or girl when they r born..so its in the head..!!..n those who make an issue out of it usually suffer by self created psychlogical pressures..

so its better if one sticks to the notion

old enough to know some guys here like this kind of sarcasm cause they don’t like women…

and old enough to know women who have daughters live one average 2 years more than mothers of son because daughters are helpfull in the housechores and are less troublesome to raise than boys who are lazy at school, like to fight and don’t help the mother with cooking, cleaning and taking care of old grandparents or young children
