I have always noticed that the brides look much relaxed, calm, happier and gorgeous on their walima than the actual shaddi… and that includes my own sister..lol thx goodness, she doesn’t come to Gupshup (so I can say it).. hehe
so yeah, what gives?

they have already gotten teyaar for their wedding so it's not as scary? girls have told me that they are much more relaxed come valima time, cuz they're bored of getting teyaar or something like that. Plus the most nerveracking part is always the wedding- so girls look better on their valima. also a lot of girls opt for a lighter color and look which i think actually is more pretty than their weddings...

but not only that girls are usually so nervous, scared, have so much on their head and then on the Valima, its just more mellow and calm, well atleast i think

It's not just the tense part that bothers me, it's something else.. either their makeup is so horrible or loud.. or the wedding dress it self is not up to the par.. Valima on the other hand brings the real beauty of a woman... that being said .. I miss Pakistani weddings :(

yeah. thats one thing i suppose, but i think its more the fact that they are relaxed. the rukhsati event is being hosted by the brides family so she and the rest of the family are all stressed out doing the preps, looking after the guests, plus the exhaustion of the mehendi events is wearing the bride down, and all the chakkars being made to the salon for all kinds of maintenance before the wedding are exhausting. on the valima, everything is done. all the bride has to do is get ready and show up for the event.
another thing, brides in pak get a more natural look done for their makeup which is usually much more flattering (i dont understand why they want the pancake look on the first day).

I have observed at various occasions that bride’s makeup is done by a non-professional, whereas on Valima day, the guy (her husband) manages a perfect makeup artist, who can prepare every type of face accordingly…
wondering y is this case more often

I think its the stress of starting a new life... obviously on ur wedding day u know thats it ur saying goodbye to all u ever knew and finally starting urself... whereas on a walima ur more relaxed coz u myt b fitting in well with evrything lol... thats my interpretation anyway

I looked better on my valima because my favorite beautician did my makeup.. rukhsati day make up was done by her sister (my fav one had an emergency) and she didn't know what works for me and what doesn't.. hence I ended up with a bright red lipstick and a lipliner that had nothing to do with my lip shape!!! Hated it!
I think it's usually the light color lehgna, make up, and the hairdo that makes the bride look different and even better in some cases!!!

my one cousin just looked so bad on valima just coz of the make up!! it was horrible.
and on the other hand.... my other cousin looked like a doll on her valima....... even though it was the same make up artist on both days.
i think its just about being relaxed....... for so many days its the stress which builds up about starting new life.... and then on valima u have already done that..... so its like "phew"
