Re: Why boys are more IMPORTANT than girls in our culture?
Wait a sec....before you get carried away....according to your first post you're talking about how women have not been given their importance based on the way the noun appears. Then, when I replied, you said that you were talking scientifically but really were talking about the cultural perspectives in History which has never been governed by science but it has been by religion. It was religion that said woman came from man and it was because of this idea that people concluded that women must therefore be lower than man and some people went too far to ask if women even had a soul.
So you think that nouns like male, female and mankind are provided to this purpose ?
The nouns and stuff as i said in that post are provided to raise the issue that why women are not perceived independently, Its easy to see this if you use english.
And for the answer i recommended following
Answer lies in the history of human race, there is alot material present to explain this, Anthropology is the subject to look into.
Now if you don't know exactly what to look in Anthropology for the answer than, i'll tell you that check out the topic of "gender", its a broad topic which covers alot related to question at hand. Now that's the science which i was talking about in my further replies.
You said that cultural perspectives in history are covered by religion, Actually the science that covers culture is Anthropology and you can see all this in it.
Further religion does not qualify to any kind of knowledge, You can look into the basics of epistemology which raises the questions like what is knowledge?.
In short all kind of knowledge is based on two primary things, i.e. reason and evidence, which brought forward the two schools of thought i.e. rationalism and empiricism science has both in it, But religion on the other hand just got a set of assumptions accepted as true, with no reason and/or evidence to prove/reject so it doesn't qualifies as knowledge.
Coming back to science however it does support this. According to science the male provides the genes that determines either sex male or female and the female will always give genetic information which is female.
If you want to reason why people have displaced otehr people then it is because some people have gained positions in society where they can influence and affect the opinion of others in accordance with their own evil and selfish plans. Such has been the case with the status of men and women. However, in Arabic notice how male is muzakkar and female is mo'anis and man is rajul and woman is nisa or imra'a.
You have to determine what came first the term woman or the unfairness. I don't think the unfairness came before the term at least in modern western culture it did not.
I sincerely did not followed what had been said here, It seemed you had wrote this on a specific understanding of what i said, which i explained earlier that its not right.
I would appreciate if you can revisit what you said, in the light of what i had said above.
