Re: Why boys are more IMPORTANT than girls in our culture?
I think it’s very simple to favor boys - because whatever “bad” it is out there is done by boys. Now it’s very dificult to have girls - because “girls” are not part of the “bad” and it is extremely hard to “protect” them from the “bad”. So you see, it is less work to raise a boy, and a lot more work to raise a girl.
hmmmm - is that a good enough reason?
(don’t shoot me - i’m just having fun here. Trying to irk you out:snooty: )
lol
Re: Why boys are more IMPORTANT than girls in our culture?
^ I've heard that logic before. That girls can get pregnant and bring dishonor to their families with the slightest carelessness since their reputations are more fragile, bla bla bla bla.
Regardless of the bakwaas that culture likes to cling to....Islam holds both genders equally accountable for their sins.....and intelligent parents realize this. Allah is not going to "let you get away" with things just because you're a boy. And He's not going to let parents "get away" with not fulfilling their obligations.....just because they have a son....or do not have a son. Smart parents understand this.
And they also understand the blessings attached to having and raising a daughter.
For Jaahil people that don't value baby girls......they must not have respect for their own mothers or sisters either. A girl will grow up to be a sister, a mother, and contributing member of society. Smart people also understand that you need women...in order to possibly reproduce men. ** You need BOTH genders**** to reproduce even the preferred gender. **
People can be disgustingly absurd. I personally have always dreamed of having a daughter.

Re: Why boys are more IMPORTANT than girls in our culture?
Known Knowledge? If there's known knowledge then there must be something called unknown knowledge and since we have no information about that unknown knowledge, how can we come up with conclusions?
Yes there is knowledge which is not discovered yet,
How i know that?
Its simple, if you can come up with a question which is not answered yet than this means there is knowledge which had to be discovered.
And science works on the same assumption, if everything was known then there were no need to work more and build hypothesis and test them to predict more.
What makes you to raise the question though, would you disagree what i said about the religion?
Re: Why boys are more IMPORTANT than girls in our culture?
Female, as you can see the word "Female" has a male in it, what does it shows? It shows that Women are not perceived as a being in itself. They had been historically perceived from the perspective of male/ man. Even the words human, or man kind express the same point. Which says that, by only talking about men one can talk about whole human race, i.e. the female don't matter. Now how things developed that way?
Answer lies in the history of human race, there is alot material present to explain this, Anthropology is the subject to look into.
I'm talking about Science and the known knowledge here, not religion.
Religion is just a set of beliefs, which you just accept and never doubt. Just by accepting something as true doesn't make it automatically true.

Wait a sec....before you get carried away....according to your first post you're talking about how women have not been given their importance based on the way the noun appears. Then, when I replied, you said that you were talking scientifically but really were talking about the cultural perspectives in History which has never been governed by science but it has been by religion. It was religion that said woman came from man and it was because of this idea that people concluded that women must therefore be lower than man and some people went too far to ask if women even had a soul.
Coming back to science however it does support this. According to science the male provides the genes that determines either sex male or female and the female will always give genetic information which is female.
If you want to reason why people have displaced otehr people then it is because some people have gained positions in society where they can influence and affect the opinion of others in accordance with their own evil and selfish plans. Such has been the case with the status of men and women. However, in Arabic notice how male is muzakkar and female is mo'anis and man is rajul and woman is nisa or imra'a.
You have to determine what came first the term woman or the unfairness. I don't think the unfairness came before the term at least in modern western culture it did not.
Re: Why boys are more IMPORTANT than girls in our culture?
Remnants of Hindu culture that are taking wayyyyy too long to die out amongst us. When I have kids both sexes (Inshallah) will be treated exactly the same, if the girls can't stay out at night neither will the boys, the boys will be expected to do the same housework etc. This jahil mentality of treating boys better/giving them more rights and generally regarding them as more important seriously makes my blood boil.
Re: Why boys are more IMPORTANT than girls in our culture?
Pakistani culture.....................
61 years of freedom & Thousands of years of cultural roots in subcontinent originated from Hindustan.
Our face is not the entire representation of what we are now but its representing what we have been for a long long time.
I'm seeing it getting better..........
and Its going to get better............
Just give.........Hmmm...........another 200 years or 3 Generation change.

So you think that nouns like male, female and mankind are provided to this purpose ?
The nouns and stuff as i said in that post are provided to raise the issue that why women are not perceived independently, Its easy to see this if you use english.
And for the answer i recommended following
Answer lies in the history of human race, there is alot material present to explain this, Anthropology is the subject to look into.
Now if you don't know exactly what to look in Anthropology for the answer than, i'll tell you that check out the topic of "gender", its a broad topic which covers alot related to question at hand. Now that's the science which i was talking about in my further replies.
You said that cultural perspectives in history are covered by religion, Actually the science that covers culture is Anthropology and you can see all this in it.
Further religion does not qualify to any kind of knowledge, You can look into the basics of epistemology which raises the questions like what is knowledge?.
In short all kind of knowledge is based on two primary things, i.e. reason and evidence, which brought forward the two schools of thought i.e. rationalism and empiricism science has both in it, But religion on the other hand just got a set of assumptions accepted as true, with no reason and/or evidence to prove/reject so it doesn't qualifies as knowledge.
Coming back to science however it does support this. According to science the male provides the genes that determines either sex male or female and the female will always give genetic information which is female.

I sincerely did not followed what had been said here, It seemed you had wrote this on a specific understanding of what i said, which i explained earlier that its not right.
I would appreciate if you can revisit what you said, in the light of what i had said above.
