You are intentionally painting the act of preserving existing practices in a positive light. While many things are worth protecting and preserving, others are not. Often, as is the case with many other things, the positives are mixed with the negatives. So yes, there is nothing inherently wrong with conservatism but we cannot state that everything that we used to do is worth preserving.

Only in desi culture. Even people who are conservative in our society claim themselves to be "modern".
Where i live, their meaning of conservative is not same as ours. Ours means backwards person while in US it is a political stream of thinking.
I am myself a very proud conservative.

But who should be entrusted with right to decide what is good and what is not? Outsiders may not be in a position to evaluate and appreciate my cultural values I want to preserve, considering their different culture and norms they followed all their lives.

In other words people in our cultures have inferiority complex or they are easy target of other cultures who can impose their superiority on them to promote their culture and values in our societies.
